Gary Oliver

All,

Now that MSFS2024 is released I have provided some updates to the PSX.NET.MSFS(2024).WASM Module - This thread will provide the latest Version of PSX.NET.MSFS.2024.WASM

Version 20.0.1
-Rewritten WASM Module with 2024 SDK to improve performance
-Updated the Aircraft Config Files to match 2024
-All Lights now use MSFS2024 lighting and function correctly.
-WASM Module Freeze and Ground Altitude Functions now work correctly, no need to pause MSFS 2024 manually like we did in testing.
-New Setting in Configuration File option <AutomatedLoadIntoFlight> which can be set to true.  The Client will then monitor MSFS startup, activate the window and use keystrokes to load MSFS into a flight.  Only enable this when you have MSFS running as you want for example on a standalone PC.

Version 20.0.0
-Standalone Installer so just extract ZIP file to any location so you can leave your 2020 version untouched
-Disables Time Sync as this breaks Weather and doesn't seem to set properly in 2024, recommend flying with RealTime/Real Weather set
-Recompiled in .NET9 for performance improvements
-Recompiled with latest MSFS SDK

WASM Aircraft
Make sure you delete the PSX.NET.MSFS.WASM_V10 from your MSFS Community Folder before adding this one.

A version with Brighter Lights is available https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/yggzeaoga3hd5y7sp6jdz/PSX.NET.MSFS.WASM_V20-BrighterLights.zip?rlkey=cerk7zmyksxh6y74e8s7s7w9x&dl=1 but please only have one of the WASM aircraft in the community folder at the same time.

Note that the install instructions and the router install remain the same as this thread - https://aerowinx.com/board/index.php/topic,7196.0.html

Please note I have switched back to manual installs and updates, this client will not auto update.

Thanks for the MSFS24 update Gary.

I will give this a try tomorrow. Can you use this new WASM version on the same machine as the old one?

macroflight

Gary, you evil evil man. Where did my morning go? :) Some notes from my test:

1: Install MSFS 2024 (used the Steam version)

2: This might only be needed by me... Since I had two directories containing PSX.NET.MSFS.Client.exe in %localappdata%\Apps\2.0\<random id>\<random id>\), I didn't know which one was active, so I uninstalled Client and Router and then installed (the 2020 versions from https://aerowinx.com/board/index.php/topic,7196.0.html) again. That solved the problem, now there was only one duch directory.

3: Download the 2024 Client files from this thread. Unpack PSX.NET.MSFS2024-TempTimeFix.zip somewhere. Copy the four files to %localappdata%\Apps\2.0\<random id>\<random id>\psx...exe_* (there are two such directories but only one that has PSX.NET.MSFS.Client.exe in it, that's the correct one), overwriting the old 2020 files.

4: Download the WASM plane again from https://aerowinx.com/board/index.php/topic,7196.0.html and install in your MSFS2024 Community folder (for the Steam edition it is %appdata%\Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024\Packages\Community) just as for 2020. Not 100% sure if this was needed, but the 744 plane did not appear in MSFS2024 until I did this.

5: Start PSX and PSX.NET.MSFS.Router

6: Start MSFS 2024

7: Configure MSFS 2024 in the same way you did for 2020, e.g turn off crash damage, turn off all the fancy HUDs, ...  Say some curmudgeonly things about the new GUI.

8: Choose the B744 aircraft in MSFS 2024

9: Start PSX.NET.MSFS.Client (and check that you get two green as usual)

10: Start a free flight in MSFS2024

PSX and MSFS should now be synced. Enjoy!

To run MSFS2020 with PSX again, reinstall the 2020 version of PSX.NET.MSFS.Client. If you want to switch back and forth you can just save the four files that differ 2020 and 2024 to another directory and write a small script that copies them into the active psx...exe_* directory before you start the client.

And here it is: PSX, WF2022MUG and MSFS2024:

Thanks for the detailed instructions. Hopefully Gary will create a seperate .exe version for 2024 so we dont have to mess around with scripts. 2024 has alot of issues that Asobo need to get sorted but its good to know that the 2020 wasm can be used again with a reinstall.

Updated main post with v20.0.0 - This is now standalone just unzip where you want to keep this away from mangling your FS2020 install.

Works surprisingly well - only issue besides timesync i see is a very pronounced judder/erratic movement in fs2024 when turning on tarmac or banking in air that I am not experiencing in FS2020.

Thanks for the support Gary - and thanks for the two simfest coffecups you sent to me :D - very nice quality - an aboslute stable in my 744 sim from now on :D

Cheers

Good morning to all those I have 2 PCs: 1pc (MSFS 2024) PC 2 (PSX), on PC 1 the file on PSX.NET.MSFS.WASM-V10 and PSX.NET.MSFS24, in the Community folder, what should I do now On PC where I installed PSX?

Gary Oliver

You can use the same router as before, the same WASM as before and just use this client instead of the old one.

Victor126

Verskoon my, maar die router gaan na die PC2 waar PSX geïnstalleer is?

Will

This is perhaps off-topic, but my only use of MSFS is for PSX. Does an update to 2024 bring real improvements? Are the graphics that much better in airline ops? (I won't be looking at pebbles and leaves.)

Very nice. Thanks a lot, Gary!

I first made my usual testflight LJLJ-EDDF, PSX and MSFS set to 15:00 UTC, MSFS Live Weather.
I'd say PSX + MSFS 2024 offered one of the most pleasing visual experiences in my flightsim career.
Light and Clouds have much improved compared to MSFS2020. To only name those two.
Also, the inbuilt EFB (Credits to Working Title) is quite nice. It comes with free LIDO charts, and can be undocked to another monitor.

My experience on the tarmac is the same. Approaching EDDF 25C, jitters started to appear around 2000ft, and were really bad when turning on the tarmac. Banking in the air however, was smooth. ...  2nd flight revealed those very noticable jitters during left/right turns in the air here as well. VSYNC at 30Hz.

I think the router can be run on either PC, but it's probably a good idea - latency - to have it installed aside PSX.

Off course, this is always somehow subjective and depends on what settings your system is able to run. But I'd say it's worth upgrading. On the same PC, MSFS 2024 gives me much better visuals (Light, Clouds), and with adjusted settings, smoother performance (though atm smoothness with PSX.NET.WASM seems to be affected by jitters, see above). Terrain is also much improved - especially when flying nearby.

I don't know if it is a problem, but the scenery for MSFS2024 comes from the cloud.
Grace and Peace,

Do you guys think the juddering is only when using the WASM Module or is it an FS2024 thing?

Have you tried making sure FS2024 is paused manually by using the inflight drop down?  I have a suspicion that the WASM module is not freezing 2024.

Sorry I have had no spare time to investigate myself this weekend so far.

FlyItLikeYouStoleIt

Active Pause? Oh dear, perhaps I should have RTFM.

Yes, that has indeed fixed the judders on turning whilst taxiing.

Now the lights: they show up on the external views of the model correctly but cast no light on the ground.

Gary Oliver

Ah excellent that's something I can look into today - seems like Microsoft changed (or broke) the pause and time simconnect variables.

Lights I noticed too... anyone got any ideas on those?

well, well... this applies to me as well it seems. ::)
Jitters fixed.

Updated the first thread with details of V20.0.1 which fixes all the known issues discussed above and improves performance.
