OK... 8-10 years or thereabouts on this forum....

Ian Riddell? A Great guy - is he still here? Answered many of my questions :)))

Hardies 737-200 "steam" project - did it ever get off the ground :)))

Me... then doing CPL/IR, now 757 Captain.

Thanks for a great Product Hardy - I recall my delight at purchasing 1.2 and then 1.3!

Sorry

Hello Edikat!

Sure you'll be even more delighted, when you purchase PSx... Feel free to read part of the story here: http://www.aerowinx.com ... and happy dreams while waiting!

What a pleasant surprise to see that Qavion is actually *****. I thought he was an invaluable part of PS1.X team and the old forums. I always wondered why he was no longer posting here, but was afraid to ask.
If before I thought PSX was going to be a masterpiece, I now believe it will be a flawless masterpiece with ***** onboard.
What a great X-Mas present.

Mariano

PS: I don't know if you noticed, but only good things keep coming out of this forum. By the way, I don't know about you but I get a tingly feeling every time I write the letters 'PS' at the end of emails or forum posts.

Mods,  you may want to edit the first post in the thread as well :)

My apologies to everyone. I had no idea. I'll go quiet for a while.

Hardy Heinlin

No need to apologise, Mariano, please keep talking and typing :-)

I just had to be quick before Google caches it for all times :-)

Mariano

Thanks Hardy.

I feel like instead of spending your precious time working on PSX (or taking a break from it) you have to waste that time searching and editing posts like mine.

I'll be more careful from now on, and I'll stick to the issues.

Don't worry too much about it, Edikat, nothing personal ; )

Rumour has it, that certain people on the forum wish to remain anonymous ... because their companies don't approve of their activities (e.g. doing sim stuff when they should be working... or telling the world what happens behind the flight deck door). Airlines are prohibiting their employees from taking photos (without permission), diseminating aircraft/airline-related information, etc ... both for security reasons and commercial reasons.

Cheers.

Glad Qavion still contributing. I still have his 747 cockpit bmp file

My Air7 [1981 vintage] still works but the squelch pot is kaputt, does anyone know where I can buy a 2nd hand squelch Pot?   :)

SydMel

I should have said Sony Air7 Scanner

Looking forward to PS Ten :)

Hi, "SydMel" : )
I'm guessing your local electronics repair shop can't help or charges too much for repairs?

I guess the cheapest option would be to open up the case and look for markings on the pot... then Google for it. Google might give you the pot range and your local Jaycar electronics store (or equivalent) might be able to help you.

If you know the radio model number, you can sometime Google for circuit diagrams, which have details of the pot. There is usually a fee involved however.

e.g. $U7.99

http://www.tradebit.com/filedetail.php/2157623-sony-air-78-receiver-repair-manual

... which is probably more expensive than the pot itself.

Anyway.. this is slightly off topic... ; )

Cheers.

Dear Ian,

Thank you for the helpful comments about my Sony Air7 scanner.

That radio accompanied me to every major airport in the world, where I spent hours listening.

It really was the "Rolls Royce" of scanners

Funny to mention this. I have a Bearcat scanner (a gift of my wife) that I use inside the Netherlands, but a radio amateur friend warned me that many, many countries explicitly outlawed scanning radios "as their only purpose can be to listen to messages not intended for you". The Dutch government realised that freely available unencrypted airwave transmissions will always be open anyway so did not ban the use of such equipment, but many others still do. I believe that in Belgium, 5km South of where I live, scanners are illegal. I bet that some Mediterranean countries also explicitly banned them.
