Hi Hardy,

For those of us planning to use PSX in a home cockpit, would it be possible to have an optional stabtrim gauge in the upper Eicas, similar to that of the 747-8?

Cheers

Hi Gary,

nope, sorry. Pure 747-4. And no time anyway. I'm very stressed.

No problem, As Im not a programmer I have no idea how difficult it would be to have a setting in the ini file to turn it off or on but thought I would ask for those of us who may not be interested in running servo type trim gauges in the pedestal.

The switch is no problem, but the integration in the sim is. Hardy decided a long time ago to build a real 747-400 but this also means that non-400 items cannot go in there.

As a comparison, there is nearly no overlap in anything between the 747-400 MCP in mechanical and in LCD variant, despite the fact that it superficially seems the same thing with just different displays.

Adding something to the upper EICAS isn't just a simple addition.

PSX simulates just one aircraft family, the Boeing 747-400, but that one in nearly all actual, realistic variants.

I realize that this 747-400 software. I wasn't asking for 747-8 type sytems to be added or for it to be included as default.  Just wanted to know if the gauge could be moved from the pedestal to the upper eicas via an edit of the ini file for those they may wish to do so similar to what Enrico did with PM when I asked.

Gary

Hardy Heinlin

Well, that's already possible.

Just zoom PSX's EICAS screen smaller by 1% to make room for another little PSX subframe (vertically) on the same PSX main frame, and pan one of the stab trim indicators into that subframe. Scale the stab trim indicator down to a mini indicator.

Yes, it is unrealistic. But you asked for an unrealistic feature :-)

No ini required. Layouts are stored in layout files.

If the stab trim is too big, zoom it further out. In the upper right subframe you could place the speedbrake lever or ... whatever ...

garys

Excellent, thanks Hardy That will work perfect. Yes its unrealistic, but that's the beauty of simulation :-) It doesn't have to be 100% true to for some of us non airline folk flying in our basements.

Yeah - 747-4 systems super realistic.  But where and how you choose to display and use them is up to your artistic judgment and home cockpit limitations.

Best of both worlds!  :)

Hey Gary, I ended up building a 7seg, 3 digit display for each side of the TQ. It uses a sparkfun 7 seg serial display and a friend of mine wrote the code to send fsuicp data formatted to show trim. can send you a pic and more details if you are interested. I figure later to adapt it to psx.

Best Regards

Hi Greg,

Would definitely like to see what you have made.

I'd like to see this code also : lepine.jean-philippe@orange.fr

Many thanks  ;)

Hi Hardy,

I was wondering if we can have a black docking screen line as this will remove a lot of un-docking ugliness.

In addition can the trim gauge have an all black background not to look like a bitmap background option. The decal numbers look cool and the green line just the gun metal colour looks funky for people that want to have it on there upper or lower eicas for not trim gauge builder out of the question for most multi monitor setup and basement simmer.

No numbers, just green line and trim ribbon would be cool if easier?

PSX bitmaps can be edited (jpg, gif). You can use a picture of Homer Simpson for your stab trim if you like.

Blake H

You have made me and some others very happy.  8)  :D  :)

Of topic will PSX have a q code for accept cancel and reject for Acars ?

You mean 748 specific buttons for CPDLC?

The 744 does CPDLC via CDUs.

I might remove those buttons on my glairshield

Or keep them for aerowinx PSX 11 747-8 or use them for vatsim some how any suggestion can it be used for vatsim.

747-8 was a joke
