Can anybody identify this old folk song? I think it's British or American and from the Wild West era or older.

I tried Google AI and www.musipedia.org where I entered these notes – but they found nothing. The song is very famous.

Hi Hardy. It's Auld lang syne, a Scottish tune, traditionally sung at New Year.

Or more precisely, it's the chorus of the song. If you want the full melody at a singable pitch, just let me know.

Hi Martin,

yep, that's it, hehe :-) Thank you!

I just wanted to recall the title so that I can search for various versions. This one, for example:

Rod Stewart - Auld Lang Syne (Live at Stirling Castle)

Rod changes the melody a bit and I'm not keen on the way he breaks up the phrases, but clearly it was a hit with the audience.

I really liked last night's Eurovision winner - indeed I have it as an ear-worm today!

Eurovision... as an American, I grew up knowing nothing at all about Eurovision. Then I went on a vacation to Greece, and I was at a hotel where there were a lot of other travelers, mostly Danes, but all European anyway. At a certain time, everyone, literally everyone, including the staff, gathered into the main room where a television was. I thought they were watching a major news event, perhaps a war had broken out. Turns out everyone was watching Eurovision. And that was how I learned about it.
