Hello everyone!

I hope this topic hasn't already been answered sufficiently somewhere – I haven't found much on it. Since screen technology has advanced significantly in recent years, I'd like to replace my 9 display units. I'm planning to use square screens. Before that, I intend to install bezels using a 3D printer, and I'm imagining a great result.

First of all: does anyone have experience with this and what dimensions did you use? I'll need a housing around it. Dimensions would already be very helpful, otherwise I'll measure it during one of my next flights with the -400. I just can't remove the CRT 😊

Many thanks!

Hi cpt_oliver,

in my setup (FDS MIP) I'm using - in the meantime - old BenQ 18,5" TFT screens for PFD/ND. They fit perfect into my mip. See picture below. (just right-click and open in own window, it's 1280 x 960 in size)

So, one PSX instance is enough, to show both PFD / ND displays on one TFT. If you are interested in measurements, of course I can take some for you.

I do not use any housing. I took the TFTs and electronics out of their case, and mounted them directly behind my mip. If you want some more pics, again let me know.

Me again,

here are some measurements. Not sure how accurate they are, but the PFD / ND of my setup matches nearly identical to the drawing below.

I dont know where this drawing is from. So, in case of any copyright problems, pls let me know - I'll remove it asap!

Thank you Hans, you have a very impressive setup! The drawing will be very helpful. I will talk about the progress and how we do the design. How did you manage to get the -8 electronic checklist on the lower eicas?

happy landings

Exactly my thought as well - in a dreamworld I hope you are secretly beta testing the -8 version of PSXXX for Hardy :D - but maybe PMDG stuff?

Cheers

You have good eyes, guys!

Well, if I spoiled Hardy's betas, I'd probably be beamed to Kronos ... ;)

It's an old B777 Checklist beta software (approx. 2000 - 2005) that was unfortunately no longer being developed. I was part of the test team at the time, so I received an early version that I'm unfortunately not allowed to publish.

Thanks for the clarification Hans - but what is up with the upper eicas - it has the -8 Trim scale?? :D
Best regards

Hmm, next time I need to add black bars to the "secrets"  ;D

It's a small graphic overlay that I programmed experimentally in AutoHotkey. These were my first attempts at using it with graphics. Except for the arrow, all graphic points are fixed for my monitor, non-scalable, etc.

To adapt the program to a different monitor with a different resolution, all of these points have to be reset manually and individually. I originally planned to rewrite the program, but haven't gotten around to it yet. As soon as it worked, the pressure was gone ... and then the time ... well ...

Hans,
why don't you finally come out with the truth, and acknowledge that you are a secret beta tester for PSX 747-8 sim?! ;D  ;)  It goes without saying that your sim is one of the top out there (#1 in Austria for sure!  :)  )

Haha, sorry - but I signed some strict NDAs  :-X

Thanks for the compliment! As far as I know, it's the only B 747 simulator in Austria. Our customs officials were totally flustered when I arrived with the genuine Jumbo parts  ;D  ;D

In Hans' defence, his "-8 beta" has PWs, which is an improbability. ;-)

Yes, I had to choose PW to match with my OVHD panels!
