Cause of ENG 1 EEC MODE caution?

Started by Hammerstan, Sat, 14 Jun 2025 08:35

I regularly have the ENG 1 EEC MODE caution, which results in an AUTOTHROTTLE DISCONNECT.

The issue is rectified by depressing the ELEC ENG CONTROL 1 switch to move from ALT back to NORM mode.

What could be the cause of this caution occurring regularly and repeatedly in cruise flight (other than perhaps a short in my ELEC ENG CONTROL 1 switch)?

In PSX, to get an EEC failure, you need to pull certain CBs or generate certain malfunctions on the Instructor.

Do you use hardware switches for the EEC? Is it possible that your hardware has a loose contact on EEC No.1? Are you asking because you first want to check the software before you test your hardware?

Hammerstan

Yes exactly, I have hardware switches for the EECs.  If there is no system generated reason for an EEC failure, it must be my hardware.  Thanks

You could equip your hardware-to-software feeder with a check instruction to yell if it detects this particular switch. Since you're hunting for one event, this is cheap and simple. Many PSX Routers can even set up this filter for you.
