Hi,

In relation to downloading metars - I recently did a flight and I would like to re-fly from the descent using same metars. All good as I have a saved situ that I can load. However I did set 'download metars' as well as 'set zones...'

Can I just simply:-
a) launch PSX,
b) untick 'download metars' (save prefs)
c) load my saved situ

Thanks

Carl

Hi Carl,

when you load a situ file, some or all of the 7 weather zones on the Instructor contain weather data. As you certainly know, each zone has a center point which is typicall centered on an airport. These center points are stored in your situ as well. Now when you load a situ, the situ will set up its stored weather zones at airports in the vicinity of your descent path and possibly at the destination airport too. You can see the zones on the map on Instructor > Situation > Position when "Met" is selected.

In that case the zones and their stored weather are already loaded, and the zone nearest to the aircraft will be focussed (the focus will automatically transfer to the next zone along the route), and you need not select "Set zones by flight track ...".

If the above is not the case, i.e. not all descent weather zones are loaded yet, then you need to select "Set zones by flight track ..." but don't select "Allow METAR files download" because that will overwrite your last downloaded METAR world files in the Aerowinx/Weather subfolder when the next download starts.
