Stream Deck keyboard shortcuts

Hi All. I'm trying to add a stream deck into our sim.

I've mapped the keystrokes to the stream deck, but the only one that works is the pause (p) I've mapped speed brake and flaps but it doesn't do anything. Is there something I'm missing?

I've put the stream deck software on the instructor station PC and have the instructor panel at the front.

Many Thanks

The instructor panel is not actually a simulator window. It will probably not respond to most simulator keystrokes, only to some, and then the rest is to operate the Windows GUI.

You should plug the StreamDeck into a PC that has a PSX window permanently in focus. Only that one will understand the keystrokes are for the simulator.

An even better way, but not readily available as far as I know (?help?) is to have a special program convert the StreamDeck inputs into PSX network commands. Keystroke inputs are a useful workaround for some cases, but definitely not the best way to drive a larger simulator setup.

At its simplest, a StreamDeck is just an additional keyboard. So you need to set it up like a keyboard: it needs to be plugged in to the PC that is running PSX, and PSX needs to have the focus in order for the keypresses to be sent where you want them to go.

Of course, the StreamDeck buttons can be made to execute macros and do all kinds of more complicated things.

Thanks Will. We've got 6 different PC's each running it own screen for the sim. I'll move it to another PC that has PSX in focus. Thought with the instructor station it would class it as in focus but obviously I was wrong.

Thanks for info :)

Hi Phil!

If you're adding a Stream Deck to your PSX setup I have a couple of posts on that subject which might possibly be of interest to you.

You can find them HERE and HERE.

(There's also a rather convoluted method of triggering jar files from SD that I describe IN THIS POST, but I'm pretty sure that since the end of 2023 someone must have come up with a better way of doing it).

Cheers,
