Mosue wont show and reload of Aerpwinx not allowed with Win 64bit

I had a catastrophic hard disc failure but had it backed up. When I reloaded Aerowinx (V10)from the back-up the mouse does show on the screen. It works on the Instructor page but not on the simulator page.
So, I tried to load the whole program again from the original disc but it will not work as it tells
me I have a 64 bit Win7 and it needs 32bit.

HELP please.

If the simulator runs OK and the mouse is the only problem, then please don't try to re-install it. Mouse problems are not solved by re-installations.

On one of the Instructor's "Preferences" pages there's this option:

Hide mouse cursor:
• Never • After 7. sec. • Always

What's selected in your system?

The 64-bit versus 32-bit is not PSX, but the Java VM under it. Probably you need to update your Java.

In Aerowinx/Visuals there should be 53 gif files whose file names start with "mou". These are mouse pointers. Do they exist in your system?

If you have them all, here's the next question: What kind of mouse hardware are you using? Is it a special gaming mouse or something that provides many optional settings?

That seems a promising starting point!

My mouse is a simple wireless "Logitech" M185.

You will find the complete "Visuals" subfolder on the original DVD. Just copy it directly from the DVD to your harddisk. Don't start the install program.

However, your incomplete Visuals subfolder may be a sign that some other files are missing as well. If that's the case, just copy the entire Aerowinx folder from your DVD to you harddisk. Do not use the install program.

There should be over 650 files in "Visuals".

This is 100% true, and in general, very few PSX system problems are solved by a re-installation. It is worth to spend a few words on why, and why PSX is so different from other simulators.

PSX is not a program that is written to use many Windows (or MacOS, or even Linux) features that are "integrated" deeply into the operating system. There is no need to install drivers, hooks, registry entries, components, .DLL files, apps, etc. -- it is 100% flat files that you can manually copy from the DVD should you so desire. You can even copy a complete installation from a Windows PC to a Mac and it will work. Therefore the PSX installation is much harder to break than a typical Windows install that needs lots of tiny details adjusted all over the disk. PSX is only one file tree, that's it.

PSX is a Java program, believe it or not. This means that it technically runs on the Java virtual computer, not directly on your PC or Mac. Java virtual machines are simpler than a typical operating system.

The only issue PSX may face is the Java installation. If that is broken, nothing will work. However Java is still very common and well supported on all relevant platforms, so in general there is a working solution available for most computers.

Where did you get your PSX backup files from?

My AerowinX was purchased from a dealer here in Bristol, England, in 2018.
The backup files I refer to are from my original installation that was
on the HDD that failed but using DiskGenius I recovered them.

I am confused now as I only have the "Precision Simulator DVD version 1.3"
Are you suggesting I should have the later PSX on a DVD somewhere?
Is my only solution to buy the latest version of Aerowinx Flight Simulator?
Who in the UK sells this?

Oh my goodness, I am a complete fool. I do have PSX bought from R.C.Simulations of Bristol
15 August 2014 for £303.99.
Sorry for being so stupid.
I will now carry out your suggestions for copying the folders from the DVD
to my HDD.

R. C. Simulations got PS1 but they never got PSX.

In 2014, "Transair Flight Equipment" were the only PSX retailers in the UK.

OK, in 2014, R.C. probably got it from Aerosoft Germany. At that time Aerosoft distributed PSX to multiple retailers, even to Amazon -- which I prohibited later on :-)
