Aerowinx (PSX) Set up in a real Flight Deck

Dear All,

I am representing APELLA SA, a Greek MRO, and am writing to you to request recommendations about a new project.

More specifically, we want to create a Flight simulator Device inside an Airbus Flight Station in our Facilities for Avionics Training purposes, so the Aerowinx (PSX) seems to be a good choice.
The Flight Station will be configured for safe support, access, and accommodation of electronic equipment.
Our initial plan is to create an internal configuration of Cockpit with Touchscreens as shown in the following image.

For that reason, it would be useful for us to have your recommendations for issues such as,
Project requirements (hardware, supplies, safety measures, etc),
Configuration Options,
Follow-on Support about installation, Training, and use of the Software.

Regards,

John Mendrinos

The obvious first question is whether you really want a Boeing 747-400 simulator in an Airbus facility.

If you do, then welcome, and you will get all the help you need from us!

We had an email conversation before. Hoppie, I think they use the front part of an Airbus fuselage just as a universal hardware cell; there is no Airbus cockpit inside. It's mainly about engineering training, and PSX with its 744 is used as a sample aircraft.

John, welcome aboard!

So, the initial question would be: What are currently the best touchscreens in the market?

Ilyama has touchscreens in all sizes. As mentioned in some of my other posts I am using 10 Touchscreens for my full 1:1 PSX 744 cockpit. It is a mix of 27" and 24" in my setup.

My main learning is to use ruggedized touchscreens for the pedestal as just dropping a pencil can ruin a touchscreen. I speak out of experience and have so far destroyed 3 Dell 24" monitors this year already.

Happy to elaborate further if needed.

Cheers
Best regards

What robust touchscreens are you using now for the pedestal, Kurt?

I am not using the robust ones yet as I still have the functional normal 24"ones from Dell but these will be the ones I would go for in a new build as pedestal:

Only caveats is the wide border compared to normal touchscreens and the reflective surface.

Hardy, Don't know these would be the best available in Europe, however,

It is very difficult to find touch screens that don't break the bank that have smaller bezel widths. I have a bunch of these in my Sim. The height makes it roughly suitable for the pedestal aft of the TQ in portrait and the width, the overhead in landscape. These have a toughened scratch resistant acrylic screen....full gloss unfortunately, but very good aftermarket dulling coatings will fix this. The touch response is excellent. I purchased them for a mere A$400 each.
I have 3 of them doing the MIP, which is fine for me but it would be more professional if I could source a single ultra wide touch screen around 55 inch diagonal to approximate the real dims of the panel. I keep looking on line for such a monitor but so far all too big or small. Experimented with IR touch frames out of China....they don't work well enough.

Sorry didn't mention there is a perspex base that removes to take roughly 30mm from the physical height of the monitor.
