MSFS 2020 vs 2024 for scenery generation

Wondering if I should make the move, and I need input from you that have made the switch from 2020 to 2024.

Questions are:
1. Smoothness - is 2024 as smooth as 2020? I have no performance issues with 2020, and don't want to upgrade hardware for time being.

2. Graphical fidelity - does the 2024 have better graphical fidelity of the world and atmospheric conditions than 2020?

3. Ease of integration with PSX - I see that Gary has made integration possible, but is there anything missing vs 2020 integration that works flawlessly?

Thanks!

Aleks

macroflight

1. 2024 is as smooth or smoother

2. Better, I would say. Those clouds and sunsets... :)

3. Same. Going forward, probably better support from Gary for 2024 (since he uses it in his sim)

If you're in doubt, I would recommend keeping 2020 and 2024 side by side until you decide.

I switched early, and have not looked back.

Hey

I have the same viewpoints as Macroflight - The value of leaning into Gary and his simfest teams software and efforts is immense!!

Only thing I really miss from FS2020 is the much clearer strobe/navigation/beacon lights from other aircraft. In FS 2024 I really struggle to see other aircraft unless they are within 5NM ish or so even at night.

There might be a hack (just like what we have withe the WASM 744 Aircraft) to boost light intensity but have“nt looked into it yet.

FWIW I have not used FS2020 at all since FS2024 came out.

Cheers

I agree with the above. I got a new computer in January. I had been flying with 2020 on the old computer, but I decided to set up the new one with 2024. I haven't regretted that decision.

I'm getting 40fps (Intel Presentmon) with MSFS 2024 at KDFW running an I7-7700K on air and a 3060 (12GB) video card with PSX on the same computer.
Grace and Peace,
