I'm having the impression the forum loads faster now. It now runs on SSD drives.

And the best thing is: I won't be forced to move my aerowinx mail accounts to a Microsoft-365 cloud :-)

Excellent!
Thx for all your tireless efforts, Hardy!

Seems to take longer to connect. From Oz it seems to take around 20 seconds before a server response when you first try to connect.

Think this may be equipment or browser related. I see an initial connection delay consistently on a particular win 10 machine using chrome as the browser that I didn't have before the service change, yet on an android phone with chrome browser the connection is almost instant as it is on a different win 10 pc with unremarkable specs using Microsoft Edge browser.....100mB/s consistent connection to the shizernet.
It's always very reliable and fast after initial connection to the server on any of my equipment though. I'm also on the Aussie east coast.

No perceived change here (Lisboa).

Kurt

Same - forum works perfectly here (DK)

Australia...not known for good internet, It'll be some government authority keeping an eye on what we're doing and reporting to the dark overlord!

Hardy Heinlin

My provider has multi-redundant network connections world-wide; one of them goes to the west coast of the USA and one to Singapore. I guess these are the main connection points for Australia, from the east and from the west? I'm not an expert ...

Hardy,
from my observations, all is good (if not better) here. I tested in Czechia and Slovakia (various locations) and Dubai. Actually, it feels faster.

I don't immediately suspect internet link issues. It's more likely that those browsers have cookie issues and/or trouble decoding the SSL/TLS (HTTPS) ciphers. And, yes, since this is a security thing, it may be that there are eavesdroppers on the line. I know of a case where a firewall attempted to eavesdrop on all URLs it saw passing by, which worked (and slowed things down a lot) for plain HTTP, but did not work (and sped up everything!) on HTTPS. This is not necessarily an Oz firewall. It may be on your own PC.

Alex and J.G., what's in your initial forum bookmark -- http or https?

JG

https......however, after reading what Hoppie had to say I cleared all browsing data, cookies and other cyber trash out of the effected machine and it has fixed it right away!
Should have noted that the problem machine is the one I do most browsing on and that its plastic brain was suffering constipation!

Mine also points to https. I regularly clear my browsers's history and cookies as they are a pain when they accumulate too much rubbish. I also regularly check my modem and its firewall. Will do a clear down restart of my modem and NBN device just to make sure.

Morning Alex,

Just logged on this morning and it was very sluggish again? So not sure now.....think the problem is at our end due to observations already outlined though. Should say also not using a VPN.

Bit more info for you Alex. I deleted and re-saved my bookmark and now I have a near instant connection again....even after a full PC shutdown and restart. Don't have a clue why this would be as the bookmark was definitely pointing to the correct place (https://aerowinx.com/board/index.php). However, I thought clearing the trash fixed this as well and the problem persisted this morning, so I will have to see how it goes over time.
