I've made a new thread to follow on from https://aerowinx.com/board/index.php/topic,7595.120.html

Hi All,

I'm running MSFS in windowed mode, with PSX on the bottom - zoom is set to 100%

This YT vid shows 2 landings https://youtu.be/BjIaY7n_s5U (one in waterloo, one in london)

Purpose of this post is to welcome any feedback on the MSFS visual size, appearance of runways (vid is a bit stuttery, that did not reflect the experience which was smoother).

If it looks okay, then I'll adjust my layouts for my functionality but I plan to leave the PFD & ND size and position where they are solely for take off and landing views.

Thanks for any further input.

It seems fine to me.  The runways seem a little narrow and the viewpoint is slightly low.  The main thing is you are comfortable with the view.

My system is setup based on my view at 1,000 agl based on my outside view from my last level-d B737 Max sim ride.  My PFD and Nav screen are the correct size for the B744.  Also my MSFS runway view and my PSX only view have the runway width the same size.
Grace and Peace,

Thanks Bode, how can I refine this further? I'm missing what I need to change for things like the runway width, height of view etc. I have edited the following 2 lines in the psx.net.msfs.client.xml but of course, this just sets the zoom.

<SetZoom>true</SetZoom>
<ZoomPercent>100</ZoomPercent>

Sim is MS2024

Carl, what's the resolution of your monitor (in pixels)?

I don't think your view looks terrible. I'm using zoom=100 set with the controls in MSFS 2024, and I haven't edited any views in any config files (at least, I don't remember doing that), and things look pretty good. The only change I have compared to your setup is that my windowed MSFS screen takes up 1/3, not 2/3, of the monitor.

Hi Will, It's 1920x1080

I've just made a video showing why it's two thirds MSFS - basically I cannot resize it any smaller - hope the vid explains/helps visualise things better!

The video explains it perfectly. I bet there is a minimum number of pixels that the MSFS window needs to have in the height axis.

I think your videos look pretty good. Unless something bothers you, I don't see a need to change anything.

Here's what it looks like in 4k, with a narrower MSFS window (zoom out or "Fit to Window" if the pics are too large):

Thankyou for sharing pics of your setup; yes I now understand about needing minimum height.
I'll conclude this thread in due course by showing what PSX layouts I use, but appreciate the layouts are very indivudal and as I am finding, take time to finalise based on ones own needs, but playing with PSX layouts - even down the last pixel - can be a very relaxing activity :)

Hi Carl,
here is my take on the layout. I recommend a more downward tilted view. I pasted two pictures together, I could do more if needed, but on the runway there is not enough time to take pictures ;)
