New B747 CDU Hardware available (PU CDU V2)

Swisso, because of its low price point, it is unlikely the Winwing CDU would ever operate with PSX without some kind of bridge program. I'd be delighted to be proven wrong though. It is also unlikely that Winwing would see commercial value in investing time to create such a bridge because PSX has a smaller customer base than main stream sims such as MSFS. This is rather a pity because products such as a CDU add on really only get used to there full potential with a systems accurate sim like PSX.
This is why I have become interested in CS's promise to make some of their product line PSX compatible (again likely with a bridge program) after they consulted with Hardy. I will support and buy that product should it become available and use their CDU's in my full cockpit and the 737 MCP and EFIS on my test and flight planing desktop sim.
If you want a 747 MCP and EFIS....get in the line to buy second hand or OEM panels and make them work or build your own........that is unfortunately the reality of building 747 sims.

Yes I am probably get one unit of the winwing version besides thew CS version and I am perfectly aware that it needs some software adaptation - if that will happen or not I dont know and tbh dont have high hopes as the cheap producers rely on scale and huge market to be able to sell at so lo cost - which as you mention does not apply for the queen of the skies no matter how much we love her.... But the WinWing is so cheap that I want to mess around with it anyway

If Winwing could write a manual on how to talk to it over USB to read its keystrokes and paint its display, or provide a demo program in source doing this, it would go a long way. The PSX community has dozens of people that can write bridges, by now. Their effort would also not be restricted to PSX only.

The reading will be trivial I am sure. I have already adapted my simple Python X-Touch Mini bridge to deal with the WW Airbus MCP/EFIS and I doubt that reading / transmitting the CDU keystrokes to PSX will pose much of a challenge.

Yep, it's like Hoppei says.....any USB addon that doesn't fall within the PSX USB supported variable list will always need a bridge software of some kind. PSX interface = ethernet, mainstream sims = USB. Even if an add on has an ethernet hardware interface, it may not be the same protocol and would nearly always need some kind of lookup table for variable translation unless it is designed and programmed to read and send PSX variables....example Simulator Solutions Simstack range. You can see that this then requires a thorough knowledge of variables and protocols at the addon end as well as the PSX side. You learn all this pretty quickly when you start building hardware to enhance your PSX pleasure. I rely heavily on others for software implementation because I'm an electronics technician rather than a programmer.

I have good news to share with you, which is that our CS Boeing series CDUs can now support Aerowinx Precision Simulator 10 (Aerowinx B744)!
At the same time, we have also implemented support for the Center CDU of 747 and 777.
In addition, regarding the 737 MCP&EFIS, we will complete support for Aerowinx by the end of February or early March.

I have asked them to confirm that the 747 CDU´s will work with PSX if buying two units and implementing them as Left and Right CDU in PSX.

If so I will order two units straight away.

Hello Kurt, I've ordered 2 and stated to CS they would be evaluated on a test rig simultaneously in various positions before installation. The reply simply said they believed I would be happy with the outcome.....how far the integration to PSX goes will be unknown really until we try it out, example will lighting control of back-lights be functional through PSX....unlikely. The units have already arrived in the country, now I will need to deal with our customs authorities. I'll do a separate post when I have something to report to the community.
On a side issue, I apologise for high jacking this thread and making it about a rather more expensive line of products than the PU and Winwing. I would still be interested in posts from anyone getting either of those products working with PSX.
