Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 25.411-b09, mixed mode, sharing)

PSX 10.175 + NG FMC & MSFS For Visuals

Hi folks,

About a month ago I started to have issues like it requires multiple clicks on the EXT PWR switch for it to activate, I lost my preferences file ( joystick assignments , online metars ) or the aircraft simply doesn't capture the GS ( it doesn't matter if you are capturing from above, below or perfectly on the path )

Honestly feels like gremlins on PSX, everything is working fine, I close it and reopen and now the spoilers are not longer set, or I lost the Aileron/Tiller setting or the Metars for some reason are offline.

I can only imagine it could be a bad Java Version OR something corrupted within PSX ?

Thanks !

Hi.

Step by step.

EXT PWR: It may take several seconds until it goes from AVAIL to ON. That's normal; this is how the 744 systems behave. Clicking the switch multiple times won't accelerate this delay.

Pref file lost. Well, the file Default.pref will be autogenerated when you quit PSX. Do you use a different pref file with a specific name? Just go to Preferences > Save and save a file. Before you save it, set your checkboxes on all Preferences page as desired.

What do you mean by "lost metars"? The checkbox selection or the metar files in the folder Aerowinx/Weather?

GS capture problem: Please save a situ file where the GS won't be captured and post it here so that we can analyse your scenario and tell you why it won't capture.

I don't think your Java has anything to do with it.

Each problem is an issue of its own. EXT PWR and GS effects may be even logically correct.

Hi Hardy,

I should have added I'm using PSX for years and have several hundred ( if not more ) hours on the 747. Regarding the EXT PWR the delay exists both in the real and on PSX but I'm talking about the click not been processed by PSX so you click on the center of the button and nothing happens then you wait like 20 seconds and then it triggers. Could this be a GPU issue with the Nvidia Driver ?

QuotePref file lost. Well, the file Default.pref will be autogenerated when you quit PSX. Do you use a different pref file with a specific name?

I wasn't aware of this I will create a customized one and test.
If it's not an abuse how can I force PSX to load a specific config file on startup ?

QuoteWhat do you mean by "lost metars"? The checkbox selection or the metar files in the folder Aerowinx/Weather?
Yes , I assume this is related with the above.

QuoteGS capture problem: Please save a situ file where the GS won't be captured and post it here so that we can analyse your scenario and tell you why it won't capture.

I will try to replicate this I fly almost every other day ,8 to 12 hours at the time, and I would say this happens since 1/2 months ago in like 5 % of the flights. I assume this would be related with my PC or some configuration. I will keep digging in the past the same ILS on the same approach worked fine.

Thanks !

In the Preferences/Basic window you can select the situ file to load on startup. I use this all the time on my networked PC's as I always start cold and dark, so I have a specific startup I use.

Hi Antonio,

does that mouse click delay only occur on the EXT PWR switches and on no other control in PSX?

When this problem occurs, could you please check the content of the text file Aerowinx/Logs/errors.txt and post it here?

Just to be sure: What do you mean by "config" file? There's no file named "config" in PSX. Do you mean pref file, situ file, or layout 9pack file?

Do these problems also occur when you run PSX solo without add-ons?

First of all thank you both for the assistance.

Quotedoes that mouse click delay only occur on the EXT PWR switches and on no other control in PSX?
I only noticed issues on the EXT PWR and the issue with the GS.

QuoteJust to be sure: What do you mean by "config" file? There's no file named "config" in PSX. Do you mean pref file, situ file, or layout 9pack file?

My apologies it's the .pref file, I created a file called Antonio.pref and I loaded my WT.situ, then I loaded Antonio.pref and saved the WT.situ file. Closed & Reopen PSX and it stil loads the Default.pref.

I always use PSX.NET , so I wil have to try and replicate it.

Thanks !

When clicking AerowinxStart.jar, PSX loads Default.pref which is automatically overwritten with the current preferences when quitting PSX.

If you need just one pref file, you can save your settings in Default.pref instead of Antonio.pref.

Saving multiple pref files only makes sense if you really need multiple pref files.

Well, assuming, you need multiple pref files and today you need Antonio.pref. -- You can do this:

Open the text file AerowinxNetStart.ini and replace its content with this single text line:

Antonio.pref

Then save it as AerowinxNetStart.ini.

Now click AerowinxNetStart.jar. Don't confuse this with AerowinxStart.jar.

AerowinxNetStart.jar will load PSX and PSX will start with Antonio.pref because that is on the list in AerowinxNetStart.ini.

You could add more pref files to the list in AerowinxNetStart.ini, e.g.:

Antonio.pref
Overhead.pref
Johnny.pref

In that case, AerowinxNetStart.jar will start 3 instances of PSX, one after the other, with 5 seconds delay in between. The first PSX will start with Antonio.pref, the second PSX with Overhead.pref, and so on.

Another option is to use the Microsoft Command Prompt where you can type:

java -jar AerowinxStart.jar Antonio.pref

This will start AerowinxStart.jar which will load one PSX instance starting with Antonio.pref instead of Default.pref.

On Windows there is a nearly the same alternative: create multiple Shortcuts to the command line above but with different .pref files. This saves you some typing. Yet another alternative is to craft a few .bat files that do the same.
