Very quiet here about this event.

Or did it turn into an old man get-together with too much beer?

Ah well it always was that anyway  :-)

It's going strong, with several PSX-based sims participating, most of which are using MSFS for external scenery linked by PSX.Net.WASM.

Almost 100 aircraft on the ground at YSSY when it started.

I followed the Simfest UK stream on Twitch last night. Gary Oliver designed custom MSFS scenery for the second leg destination YWKS in Antarctica, which includes a visual approach guidance system called Precision Electronic Night Instrument System.

Of course, most pilots and controllers were referring to it by its abbreviated acronym ;)

I had a lovely time on Wilkins Radio last night!

Our PSX based sim is now performing perfectly after a small minor issues with our real printer overheating - thankfully we have a spare and a fan!

I'm so tired, and it's only Monday... 7 legs so far.

Sydney during the first leg:

The desktop PSX setup is working great. Need a bigger table soon... :)

Just departed Curaçao, which feels very strange in VATSIM since "Basic 004 - Cleared for takeoff.situ" is what I use for most of my sim testing.

Gary,

I've been watching some of your flights.  I noticed there was a new crew member with Simon that was providing a lot of real world knowledge and experience to the flight.

Is the scenery being used by your sim payware or freeware?

Participated in the KATL to KBOS leg tonight. It was intense! I watched BAW47C taxi past on the inner taxiway,  getting a priority departure on KATL 27R while I was stuck in a looong queue on the outer taxiway 😁. It was great fun, and PSX + MSFS worked perfectly.

Flying into Muscat with a PSX SIGMET generating thunderstorms and hail was fun. :)

I'm watching a saved stream on Twitch, BA2346 to Cairns which got two lovely engine failures. I have some questions :-)

Does the Simfest simulator's toe brake pedals have on-off brake switches or potentiometers? I'm asking because there was some confusion with the rudder trim. PSX has a PNF feature that trims the rudder when both brake pedal switches (switches, not pots) are actuated in flight while the slip indicator is out of the center. E.g. on a desktop sim setup without ergonomic rudder controls, when you get an engine failure, you just hit the space key (both toe pedals) and the PNF will trim the rudder for you. This feature shouldn't work when the toe pedals use pots instead of switches.

Who's this proud man on that picture behind the aft jump seat near the cockpit door?

I was flying my sim (TXS51) on that leg and was about 10 minutes behind them. BA47C gets the straight end, the rest of us get the scenic tour of Australia.  🤣

One thing I had a question about concern the fuel management.  Instead of using fuel out of the center tanks, they had the outboard tanks feed the outboard engines that had not failed?  It would seem that the outboard engines should have been fed by the inboard tanks until on approach and then switch to the outboard tanks.

Whatever happened to Matt Sheill and his SIM?

I thought Matt Sheill was QFA 25 in this years World Flight 2023.  This link below may be of some help.  It refers to his simulator.

Thanks, Bode! I had an old link which didn't work, but it seems that he's still kickin'. Was a bit worried.

Hey Matt!
Good to read!

Best wishes, Kim (who had been a bit more active on this forum over 20 years ago).
