Can't change STAR and approach in CDU

I'm currently enroute from ESSA to EHAM. Generated a Simbrief flightplan, which I pulled via ACARS. Selected takeoff runway and SID. Route is all good. But pressing DEP ARR twice on the CDU doesn't allow me to select a RWY and STAR for EHAM... Surely I'm doing something wrong :)

I'd appreciate any and all suggestions as I haven't faced this in other 747's I've flown.

I've got into this situation before.  To cure it I push LEGS then DEP ARR which brings up the DEP page.  On this page push the INDEX button and the DEP ARR page will come up showing the Departure and Arrivals menu.

You can instantly save such a file with the EVENT RCD button on your panel.

Just to avoid a misunderstanding: We analyse the situation not by reading the text with our eyes but by copying & pasting the text into a new situ file in our computer and then by loading that situ in our PSX :-) So that we see what you see :-)

That was the solution. Somehow I've built muscle memory that says 'press DEP/ARR twice' to edit the arrival STAR and RWY... Thanks!

Ah, great info too! Dankjewel :)

I forgot about saving the .situ unfortunately, will do so next time. This was reproducable, so I guess pressing DEP/ARR twice is not a legal way to edit the arrival RWY+STAR?

I also have an unrelated question Hardy, I like having manuals printed and ringed since I find paper easier to read than tablets and what not. How do you feel about me having the PSX manual printed at a local copy shop? Is there perhaps another way of obtaining a paper manual?
Thanks!

When you are on the ground for departure with an active route, the DEP/ARR key will show the origin's SIDs.
After lift-off the DEP/ARR key will show the origin's STARs.
At cruise level or half route distance, the DEP/ARR key will show the destination's STARs.
At any time you can open the index page by pressing 6L ("<INDEX") on the SID or STAR list pages.

Sure, you can make a private paper copy of your PSX manual. There are no official paper copies. I'm sorry.

Thanks for the clarification Hardy, much appreciated. I did notice the part about half route distance indeed. I intend to do (much) more reading/RTFM ;)

I'll check the local copy shop, I wanted to check with you first in case I could support you by buying from you.
