Hello,

bought the PSX 747 a couple of hours ago but i must say that i don't know how i should set up.

For information, i'll use the software with msfs 2020 and on the same computer

For far, i tried to connect via WIDE PSX to slave msfs to the psx 747 but no success so far.

Seems that it can't connect to sim connect ?

thanks

Hello,

first, if you want to start just one instance of PSX (no network of multiple PSX instances), you should start with
AerowinxStart.jar instead of
AerowinxNetStart.jar.

You may want to go to Instructor > Layout > Load and select a useful layout 9pack file.
Then exit PSX.
Then double-click AerowinxStart.jar.

Now you have a "normal" PSX instance as a basis to start with. The other file AerowinxNetStart.jar is just a demo on how to automatically start two PSX instances that will automatically be networked with each other at start-up.

For questions on the WidePSX add-on you may want to go to our subforum "Accessories" where add-ons are discussed.

Thank you for your interest!

If widePSX is not working for you try Gary Oliver's PSX.NET.MSFS.WASM (https://aerowinx.com/board/index.php/topic,7196.0.html) If you have setup everything take a couple of weeks to get familiar with PSX: read the manual, do the training situations. If you want to jump in on the flight deck and fly, PSX is not the right choice :-) Enjoy and welcome to the club

I'll second what Ton said above about Gary's PSX.NET.MSFS.WASM. It is very simple and gives very good results.

But you might want to fly PSX natively for a few trips just so you understand how the sim works -- not the 747 necessarily, but the Instructor pages, the concept of Layouts (9packs), Situation files (loading and saving), and so on.

Then maybe start working on getting it to connect with MSFS. (I flew PSX without any external scenery generator for years, and it was quite nice all by itself, until MSFS and WASM came along.)

Hang in there and keep asking questions, the community will help you out if you get stuck.

Hi Will, I wasn't aware of PSX.NET, sorry :-) How do you inject Aloft WX into PSX? Still with WideFS or is there another tool I missed?

Gary Oliver

I take winds aloft by using BACARS to automatically inject them into the wind corridor.  You can always do this step manually.

Wind corridor. I use PFPX, and copy the wind corridor into PSX as one of the final steps of flight planning.

If I recall well the wind aloft WX is only available in the NG upgrade (https://aerowinx.com/board/index.php?topic=5575.0)

The wind corridor (real-world winds aloft) is indeed available only through the NG upgrade.

Without the NG upgrade, PSX uses an internal winds aloft model based on seasonal (or user-adjusted) jet stream patterns.

Gary Oliver

without the NG upgrade you will want to use WidePSX from activesky then.
