New problems loading PSX on MacOS 13.4

Hi All,

I am not sure why, but my installation of PSX 10.92 (I know, not the newest by any measure) that has always worked has stopped loading on MacOS Ventura 13.4 (Java starting up, but PSX not loading).

Suspecting a Java environment problem (perhaps due an automatic update that slipped past me), I uninstalled the Oracle JDK and installed the Zulu 8.72.0.17 JDK. With this, PSX now loads when starting AerowinxStart.jar, but hangs at 31% with a yellow message box stating "Please double-click on AerowinxStart.jar to start the simulator". This problem also persists with PSX 10.171. I have no USB devices connected. One thing I've noted is that my AerowinxStart.jar is only 879 bytes - too small according to other threads on this problem.

I would be very grateful for any help to get PSX working again!

Thanks and kind regards,
Patrick

879 bytes is exactly the length of my own AerowinxStart.jar

Hi Patrick,

normally, this message occurs when you click Aerowinx.jar. Are you sure you're clicking ...

AerowinxStart.jar instead of ...
Aerowinx.jar
...?

Hi Hardy and Jeroen,

Thanks for your replies - yes I am executing AerowinxStart.jar.

Any ideas ?

Patrick

I just rechecked my file sizes. (I'm on macOS Big Sur.)

My AerowinxStart.jar is 343139 bytes in size.

I don't know why yours and Jeroen's is just 879 bytes.

Are you referring to a shortcut file? If so, please check if your shortcut uses "AerowinxStart.jar".

My shortcut is 800 bytes.

This is on a Windows box

AerowinxStart.jar
Type: Executable Jar File (.jar)
Opens with: Java(TM) Platform SE b
Size: 879 bytes

And it works. I just tried it. There is no shortcut (symlink) at all in this folder.
When I try to force the .jar open in my ASCII editor, the thing states that it misses the plugin to unzip the file. So it is a .zip which implies it is a .jar, not a shortcut.
When I copy the file and rename to something.zip, Windows recognizes it as a .zip and unzips it and it has:
META-INF/
Starter.class
and it still is 879 bytes.

... weird ...

AerowinxNetStart.jar is 2314 bytes
Aerowinx.jar is 7551937 bytes (.156)
