PSX to write Datarefs in X-Plane

Hello everyone,

Is there a way to get essential data from PSX like engine rpm, tire rpm etc, position of switches and levers etc. into X-Plane as datarefs?

We did try xView but we could only see for example the flaps moving according to PSX inputs. No other control surfaces or for example the engines rpm do effect datarefs and animation in XP.

Thanks a lot and greetings,

Marcel

Hi Marcel,

I'm no X-Plane expert, but I can say that PSX can output thousands of variables by text messages via TCP/IP, including engine parameters.

As for tire RPM, you just need groundspeed and tire diameter to calculate the RPM externally.

So the technical answer is: yes, you can, as long as somebody updates the XView program to do all this.

Note that all these scenery generator drivers are meant to, well, drive scenery generators. They are not intended to drive a complete aircraft including all flight deck switches. They could, but this was not their intention. It becomes 100 times more work to do so.

Still, as Hardy said, PSX has the data -- it's up to the scenery generator driver (here XView) to relay the data.

Thank you both so much for your answers!

I am not a coder so writing my own software could be quite difficult or impossible. But I can work with datarefs in X-Plane to drive Hardware. There is a real 747 cockpit shell and most of the hardware is working quite well with PSX. But for some features I would need a bridge to X-Plane to give as the datarefs...
