Elec Engine Control ALTN lights on

I'm going through preflight and this occurred with the ELEC ENG CONTROL switches. Can't find anything in the manual. Checked Malfunctions but cannot clear it.
This is low priority but if anyone could shed some light, I'd appreciate guidance.

What's the history before this situation? Is this situ file based on an older situ file? Or did you actually land and shutdown the engines etc. yourself before you got into this preflight situation?

Normally, the ALTN lights should extinguish during engine shutdown. What exactly happened in your last postflight scenario?

Edit: Did you manually select the ALTN mode on the EEC switches before you shut down the engines? This way I can latch the alternate mode for the postflight phase. You shouldn't select the ALTN mode on the ground. It's not an OFF switch.

I have the same problem at times with the EEC ALTN lights coming on after doing the ELEC PWR UP and then if you turn the Alternate Action Switch to ALTN and back to NORM, they do not reset. I also tried clearing all Malfunctions as funkyhut did.

Yes, they are older .situ files that were used before. The only way I can get rid of it is going to a file that is OK and then setting weather, weights, equipment, etc and saving it. Most of the time I finish with shutting engines down, but maybe the times I did not, could that cause it?

Hi Hardy,
I'm using Al's situ file (the one attached to my original post) from C&D.
Immediately I turn on the battery I get the ALTN in the EEC switches. When I progress through to start engines, the ALTN lights go out.
I've also tried the QRH 7.16.
I must confess this is way above my pay grade, even after reading the EEC part of your Operations Manual.
If I hadn't joined Captain Al's training I would never have even noticed this condition, which I now see on several .situ files I've set up from the 00 Parked 001 - Sydney.situ which I guess is a standard overnight parking situation with GP connected and the STANDBT POWER switch on AUTO with the BATTERY off?

Does ALTN on the EEC switches arise out of an incorrect procedure somewhere or is it to be expected till engine start?

Again, this is non urgent - just curious.

No, engines are not running. As funkyhut said it is right after you turn the BATT SW on to do the Electrical Power Up Procedure. Also, as funky stated, they reset after engine start, but I never get that far because I need them extinguished during the scanflow to demonstrate properly. When I first saved the situ file, it was fine, but over time and use again, that triggered the problem.

I can reproduce it.

I made a cold and dark situation and when I load it and do nothing at all for 15sec, when I switch the battery on, I see it. The reason is that for some reason the EEC MODE messages (57-60) are added to the EicasA string (saw it in the Router) and when you switch the battery on, you get the lights (they are not the problem, they are side effect). When you power up the displays, you can see the messages too.

If you switch the battery on too early, it doesn't happen.

I did a notepad++ comparison of the situ I posted at the head of this thread and a "working" version I had "fiddled" with (sorry but I forgot what I did) and there were many differences which, of course, meant nothing to me.
