PSX Sounds - Additional Sound Application to Complement PSX

All,

I just realised that despite running this in our sim and several other builders sims for many years I have never actually released it.

Additional Sounds
Air conditioning Sounds when Cockpit supplied with air from Packs
Electrical Buzz - a 400hz buzz when appropriate
Equipment Cooling
Speedbrake Rumble when speedbrake out
Wheel Scrub when you scrub the nose wheel, or when you apply pressure in a quick tight turn
Wind Sounds for wind over the nose
APU Sound - Not very realistic but there if you want it
PA sound - Cant remember what this does :-)
Recirc Fans
Cargo Door Shutting thud
Rolling Ground
Engine Starters
RB211 Whine at high power settings
Seatbelt Sign
ACARS Chime

My Setup

1 x On PC which runs Engine Sounds for PSX to lower the engine sounds the higher the aircraft gets by ticking the 'adjust windows volume for engines' tick box.  This PC has 2 speakers either side of the back outside of the sim playing PSX engine sounds.  This one plays the additional sounds 'Apu Sound - 1%, Cargo Door - 50%, Starter - 50%, RB211 Sound - 50%, speedbrake rumble, '

1 x Runs on two speakers at the front of the sim running 'airconditioning, electrical buzz, equipcooling, window sound, wheel scrub, recirc fans, rolling ground'

Thanks
Andy W for his help and expertise in the sound setup, an airbus man learning Boeing was fun!
Mark H for some of the bass sounds, a 777 developer.

As usual Source Code available for anyone who wants to edit and update - like most things this was developed specifically for my own sim and other features might help others.

Thanks Gary for releasing this, will give it a try.

Incidentally, a while back you mentioned a connector for PSX and MSFS like PSX.NET - is that still an project yourself or Mark are working on?

Regards, Steve.

Steve,

Yep still working on it, however real life has got in the way at the moment.

Cheers

Thanks Gary, fantastic work. Do you disable normal PSX sounds?

ASCTU744

I appreciate the effort and it sounds great, but wouldn't these sound interfere with the original PSX sounds? I.e. the pack sounds and RB211 whine are already there and is the APU audible in the cockpit (I always wondered the same for the grd call/IRS ON BAT horn)?

Just curious, never even been on a functional 744 ;)

ok - also missed that announcement :D

I was only using PSXvibrate until now but missed the buzzing, humming and whizzing I hear in the different FMS´s I attend these days. Now I have it !

- thanks Gary and team for yet another addition to the community :D

Best regards

I downloaded this but I don't see a readme or installation instructions. I boldly clicked on PSXSounds.exe and the GUI loaded, but it says "PSX Not Connected." Next steps for me? Thanks.
