If you are asking about Posky 747-400 models (as the thread suggests), I think the answer is "few use those anymore".

There are many ways to get a view out the window from your PSX sim, but today I would personally recommend MSFS2024 connected to PSX using Gary's excellent system "PSX.NET.MSFS2024.WASM" which consists of three components that you start and install separately (but all are needed):

- PSX.NET.Router
- PSX.NET.Router.MSFS.Client
- A "WASM plane" for MSFS that you install in your MSFS Community folder

Forum thread where you can read more about this and download: https://aerowinx.com/board/index.php/topic,7595.0.html

Somewhat simplified, the Router sends data from PSX to the Client that sends it to the WASM plane. The WASM plane is basically just a camera that is pushed (very smoothly) through the MSFS world by PSX. However, that camera also comes with an external model (with a dozen or so included liveries), so if you switch to external view in MSFS you see a 747 with moving gears, flaps, lights, etc.

Please note that you do NOT get a 3D cockpit with working instruments, this is for the view out the window only (and looking at your aircraft from the outside if you want). There is an option to get parts of a 3D cockpit for those that want some window frames to look at though.

And if you're starting from scratch setting up a 747 sim based on PSX - there are many other addons I would recommend looking at but that's getting far off topic... If you create a new thread "new PSX:er looking for advice on how to setup a sim" and tell us a little about your project I'm sure you will get some helpful tips. There's so many way to use PSX (anything from a laptop to a garage full of real 747 parts...) so it's hard to give generic advice.

Thank you Macroflight!  Very helpful.  Will setup a new thread as you suggest.
