Wind Upload Corridor - Waypoint not in database

Hello Hardy,
hope that you are doing well and you are safe. Over the past couple days, I have done distance flights from Cologne (first to Hong Kong and to Los Angeles). It was a joy as always.

During the flight planning phase, I have noticed that some waypoints were "not in database", but I managed (correctly?) to find a work around. For example, I changed formt of enclosed waypoints and they were accepted.
From:
5890N
5595N

To:
N58W090
N55W095

However, on a return leg, I stumbled into a following issue that I do not know how to properly edit. If it is even possible.

Waypoints in question:
H6263
6355N
31SF
H6339
H6227
H6016

Thank you for your help!
Best!

Hi Andrej,

I assume you get your corridor and your FMC route from an external program. If your external program generates the FMC route too, that FMC route will contain the waypoint coordinates.

There are three solutions:

1. First load your external route into the FMC, then get the external corridor data. The corridor parser will search the FMC route for the waypoint coordinates.

... or ...

2. First get the external corridor data (some waypoints may not be found). Later, when your external route is loaded in the FMC, go to the Instructor's corridor edit field, put the text cursor at the end and hit the space key. This is a text edit. Any text edit will restart the waypoint search.

... or ...

3. In your external program select the option to generate data in format D or E (see NG manual page 83).

Note: It doesn't matter whether your FMC route is already activated or not. The parser also searches inactive routes, and even the MOD RTE when the EXEC light is illuminated.

2. First get the external corridor data (some waypoints may not be found), then load your external route into the FMC. Mark the entire corridor text, press CTRL+C, delete the corridor text, click the empty edit field, press CTRL+V. PSX will notice that new corridor data has been entered; so the corridor parser will search the FMC route for the waypoint coordinates.

thank you once again for an exhaustive answer. I am happy to say that first solution worked well. I did not realize this before (never had an issue). Also, confirm that no need to active the route.

For the time being, I use PFPX for flight planning, TOPCAT for calculations, and PSX BACARS for communication (this is work laptop). On my home PC, I add visuals (X-Plane 11).

Hi Hardy,

These solutions are great. Thanks for posting. Up until now, I just thought I needed to manually remove waypoints that aren't in the database. These tips work beautifully though, and are much faster (and more accurate) than removing waypoints from the corridor.

Hi Hardy,
I'm using PFPX and have followed your instructions above. All works fine for a flight from VTCC to EGCC.
If, during the flight, I want to update the wind corridor, can I re run the data through PFPX, get new wind data and copy it into the PSX wind corridor and then update the RTE DATA in the FMC?
Many Thanks.
Greetings from the mountains of Northern Thailand (VTCC),
Chris Stanley.
