Idea for PSX

First, Happy New Year to all!

I came across this idea, when i flipped through the pages of my PS1 manual, looking at all those nice diagrams and schemes of the various systems. Hardy, would it be possible to make interactive, real-time system diagrams on the instructor pages? Maybe even linked to the failure module? Like the iron-bird, but without iron :-) Imagine you can see all (not really all - the most important) systems how they work in the background, e.g. electrical relays, pumps, fuel and hydraulic flows and so on. You could touch (or click) on a pump to make it fail, for example. And all that during a PSX session. This would be very educational, both for pilots and maintainance guys (and for the rest of us), to see what's going on under the hood.
OK, maybe I'm asking for too much, and I certainly do not expect this for the initial release of PSX. Eventually this is an idea for a special PSX-Maintainance-Edition or something like that in the future.

Thank you
Walter

Hi Walter,

I have some extra data (that are not on the EICAS) in textual form on the Instructor. I often think of animated diagrams, too, (e.g. for the various engine bleed air valves I'm currently working on) but that's very time consuming. Perhaps PS11.

For the malfunctions there's a separate menu system with various conditional triggers.

Thanks!

Cheers,

In percent, how many internal discrete PSX items such as relays, valves, and pumps are available over the network?

All variables that are required to restore a situation are available over the network. These are way more than those visible on the flightdeck.

So, this opens the possibility to create add-ons (either by Aerowinx or by others) that offer the live schematics of a running aircraft.

...have been thinking about this some time ago (as a potential exercise in Java  ;) ), and came to the conclusion there is a real risk(?) you will end up meta-duplicating the sim  :D

As the man said, "QVIS SIMVLAT IPSAS SIMVLATIONES?"

To paraphrase: "This life is only a simulation!  If it had been a real life, you would have been told where to go and what to do!"

In addition to failing components, I'd like to have some sort of marker that you could place on the schematic that would take out whatever was under the mark.  This would approximate springing a leak in a certain spot, for example.  It's not always the pumps or switches that break, sometimes it's the lines/hoses/wires too!
