New PC with Win 10 and USB problems

Hello,

I´m back after looong time, well, I bought a new PC three months ago and only now I installed PSX and a lot of problems with USB controllers (TM WH Hotas and Rudder Pedals).

In my old PC with Win 7 I had no issues and TMWH and Rudder Pedals was exactly the same, now I had NO Rudder Pedal recognized and  I have Stick and throttle only if I start the PSX without Mouse connected (have to connect mouse later with PSX running) and THANKS to Mr LawyerPilot, I found his post (below) from 2018 and I´m surprised that in 2020 and v10.93, I still have this problem.

Thanks for any input.

Victory is mine! Well, for the most part.

I am able to get it working by starting PSX with the mouse unplugged. PSX detects my controls and then I am able to plug my mouse back in and everything works like a charm.

I'm sure there must be some way in Windows 10 to assign priority to HID's, but I guess it's not worth the effort to research since unplugging and replugging is a snap.

Hello,

that special mouse with extra game functions confuses the Java USB interface, unfortunately.
I can't change it, I'm sorry.

As for the rudder detection: In the past years, PSX got a new, extended calibration system. If you just copied a very old Aerowinx folder to your new PC and installed PSX 10.93, you probably also need to recalibrate your USB controls:

If your rudder does not appear on your PSX USB page at all,
what is indicated in your Aerowinx/Developers/USB-Detect.txt?

Well, yes, the rudder does not appear on my PSX/USB page at all. Here is the USB-Detect.txt.

Hi Hamilton,

thanks for the copy.

When you start PSX while your keyboard and your rudder are the only USB devices connected to your computer, will your rudder appear in PSX?

Does your rudder work in other programs?

Appears with a msg: "No usable USB found. Please quit the simulator before connecting a USB device."

And in my Aerowinx/Developers/USB-Detect.txt with only keyboard and your rudder connected:

USB detection test:   blank, nothing.

Yes. With all programs that I have: DCS, P3D, XP-11 and BMS working perfectly.
My rudder pedal is a Virpil VPC ACE-2 Rudder Pedals.

Another suggestion:

Do you start PSX with AerowinxStart.jar?

If so, please load the file Aerowinx/Preferences/Default.pref with a text editor and search for this line:

UsbUnknownIncl=0

Replace the 0 with 1:

UsbUnknownIncl=1

Save the file. Restart PSX.

Please check if PSX detects your rudder now.

Maybe your rudder has no name or no USB standard axis. If that's the case, PSX considers it an "unknown" device and thus inhibits it in order not to clutter the system with USB devices that are irrelevant to flight controls (e.g. speakers, toasters etc.). The inhibit can be deactivated by the above method ("unknown included").

Hardy,
I just tried setting UsbUnknownIncl=1 and PSX hangs at 12% if my Xbox One controller is attached. If I disconnect it PSX runs fine. Is this a "known" issue...?

Thanks Hardy, it worked!

There a few little things, like it does not regognize one toe brake, but I set one as both and it´s OK, at least I can fly it now.  ;)

Thanks again.

The parameter "UsbUnknownIncl=" is actually designed to prevent such crashes caused by unknown devices :-)

So just set it to UsbUnknownIncl=0

Hardy-

After a system reset (still W10) I am resetting PSX, and cannot see my Rudder Pedals- all else was fine, calibrated and saved.

With UsbUnknownIncl=1 I can see my Rudder Pedals.  I calibrated those and shut down, saving that USB-Detect.txt file.  I copied the rudder pedal section to my working USB-Detect.txt and changed to UsbUnknownIncl=0. Starting PSX I cannot see my Rudder Pedals again.... could you lend a hand/pointer... it was all working before the ijut behind the yoke started over from scratch...

Ta!

PS- A little more fiddling and I'm making progress, however, I've left  UsbUnknownIncl=1... if that's ok to do.  The now working USB-Detect.txt is -

If the inclusion works, keep it. The inclusion option is made for such cases.

Normally, unknown devices are excluded to avoid clutter and crashes. But if everything works and you need any unknown device, just include them.

QuoteI copied the rudder pedal section to my working USB-Detect.txt and changed to UsbUnknownIncl=0.

It makes no sense to edit the USB-Detect.txt file. This file is just a report for the user, autogenerated and overwritten at every PSX start.

Relevant is just the "UsbUnknownIncl" setting in your Default.pref file.
