VNAV Pages BEFORE ZFW Entry

Mariano

Hardy,

Please take a look at the video below (767 Pegasus).

https://www.dropbox.com/s/2gakck0dgyjh311/VNAV%20Fields%20and%20Line%20Titles.MOV?dl=0

Compare the many VNAV (CLB, CRZ and DES) fields and line titles in the video to the ones in PSX BEFORE ZFW is entered.

In the 767 (PIP and Pegasus) all three VNAV pages display more fields and line titles than in PSX (again, before ZFW is entered (and after full route entry, of course ;-)). I forgot to check, but I assume that the TRANS LVL line title and field are also populated in the DES FORECAST page (in the 767), before ZFW is entered.

Is this perhaps a 767-744 difference? I consulted some manuals, but none described the status of the fields/line titles during preflight. Perhaps it could have been just an issue with the specific situs in which I noticed this discrepancy.

Also, did you receive an email with a link to an RTA video?

Thanks and best regards,

Mariano

I think we discussed this some months ago. I've seen different effects on the 744 legacy FMC, and I can't confirm whether the 767 FMC can be used as an exact reference for modifications in this area. So I won't touch the legacy model in PSX until it's confirmed with the real legacy FMC (not the NG).

The last mail I've got from you arrived at 20 AUG, 0100 UTC, and is about the ANP stuff.

Thanks,

P.S.: The 747 has a greater gross weight range than the 767, and the GW influencences the CRZ phase determination a lot. This determination might be easier on the 767 so that the 767 FMC might be able to define the CLB and CRZ phases without any GW info. Just a theory. I won't bet that the 744 FMC is 100% identical.

Mariano

Hardy,

Thanks. The greater weight range of the 744 theory is a good one.

It might still display line titles but dashes instead of characters on fields for the yet-to-be-calculated data, although this could be just another erroneous assumption on my part.

I will re-send the RTA video shortly.

Best regards,

Mariano
