Both are brilliant!

Fully agree. These books helped me a lot in the PS days. Still have them.

Another very useful book is this one:

In fact there are many books in this series I found interesting and useful. I have 8 form the flight deck London Sydney (also 747-400) too.

It would seem that back in the days of PS13 these publications helped us all along the way ....

I wonder if Stan Stewart is still with us?

You're the first person to refer to his Heathrow-Chicago book, which was the first in the series. It's on a classic 747 but I still find it the most engaging read of all of the From the Flightdeck series.

He's published books on aircraft accidents too, ones that ended badly and ones with happy endings.

I, too, wonder what has become of him.

Remember this one?

Yes, I still have it in a print form as well.
Just ordered "From the Flightdeck" - Heathrow to Hong Kong and Heathrow to Sydney.

Cheers,

This thread is becoming a bit of a trip down memory lane!. Good times though. So, some more from my early PS days

A bit dated by now, but I learned a lot from this Jeppesen manual. There is a VFR version too. I used both of them in 2009 when I got my PPL in the USA

And of course these two books by Mike Ray brought some further insights into how to prep for - and fly the 744.
