Please note that this corridor path is not a wind direction path. It's a path within which the wind data changes from waypoint to waypoint (smoothly interpolated vertically and laterally); it implies wind changes caused by jetstream crossings etc.

Just to clearify my words:
If I understand it correctly, the new feature of PSX will provide a more or less accurate representation of upper wind data based on outputs from flight planning software. But there will be no detailed jetstream simulation in the corridor, correct? If the airplane enters a jetstream the wind velocity will increase in accordance with the numbers of the PFPX output but I suppose that won't be a CAT area simulation? (this would equire a 3D model of the actual jetstream which is probably not possible to derive from the wind data in the flight plan).

Not a big deal, but I really like the jetstream simulation of PSX. It is a piece of art and unique in the desktop simulation world.

Probably we cannot have everything... PSX can't be the ,,eiermilchlegende Wollmichsau" which provides accurate upper wind data and a detailed jetstream simulation.  ;)

There will be very detailed jetstream effects inside the corridor if the corridor data has been copied from real-world data (via flight planner programs).

No matter whether you cross a jetstream or follow a jetstream, the wind directions and velocities will vary as you fly along the data corridor. The wind direction will turn like in real life. It may turn by 360° as you fly along. And the wind speed may vary between 0 and 250 knots.

And jetstream induced Clear Air Turbulence will be generated by SIGMETs -- from the same date, from the same flight planner, or by direct Internet download through PSX.

Yesterday there was a large U-shaped band of SIGMET areas (turbulence) across the Atlantic. That U-shape was actually identical to the jetstream U-shape track at that time.

The traditional PSX generated jetstream model is still intact. It's just interpolated with the corridor data. The corridor is 500 nm wide, and 100% of the corridor values are only applied in the middle of the corridor. The more you get abeam the middle, the more it fades out. At 500 nm abeam it's completely washed out.

The corridor system is very flexible and invites to creative experiments. You could also build a corridor along a jetstream rather than along a flight route, and let the flight route be in the traditional weather model, e.g. in a fixed wind data setting. When the aircraft crosses this corridor, it encounters this corridor's wind data, at that section of the corridor. -- But the easier method is to use the corridor for the flight route. You won't leave that route anyway. It makes no sense to design weather effects in areas where you won't be flying.

I'll Proudly show your "corridor-based" weather injcetor to my colleagues, just as I did the present - already Amazing! - weather engine you built for PSX Hardy.

I'm sure it'll be 2nd to NONE weather injection product presently available for ANY of the flight simulators available on our customer market... Don't really know about the multi-million toys.

One question - what is usually the lowest level reported by the flight planning forecasts ?  Bellow that level the corridor will blend with METAR data, just as the present weather engine works correct ?  And, btw, please remind me what is that level presently ( FL180 ? ).

In the PSX corridor the lowest valid reference altitude is 1000 ft MSL. You probably won't get that value from the flight planners, but you can edit the text in PSX and design whatever you like.

You can enter up to 6 reference altitudes at any intervals.

I bet the multi-million toys are for set training scenarios only. No live injection at all. Even if they can import METARs, which is straightforward, most trainings won't want to use real weather -- they want bad weather.

Yep, pretty much what I think - a very simplified / case-based simulation of weather scenarios.
