Hey Hardy, will I be able to print out my METARS from the Instructor's screen in PSX?

Cheers,

Dennis.

Not directly. But you can copy and paste the METAR text to and from other text editors of your choice while PSX is running.

For example.

You can also turn it upside down. PSX can fetch METARs from official sources, and so can a multitude of weather programs including flight planners. They have the same data.

This is what came to my mind when I saw the corresponding screenshots, as the METAR is presented in a multiline text field. Good idea.

I thought that as all the external data is presented altogether on the Instructor's Page anyway, it would be more practical to print it out from there. But you're right, of course!

Thanks,

Dennis.

To reduce Internet traffic, only one application in the local PSX/addon network should download the METAR world files. There are two ways of exchanging METAR data between PSX and an addon:

- Simply copy the world file to or from PSX's weather directory.
- Send or receive them by TCP/IP using certain PSX string variables.

Just an idea: I could develop an external application (AddOn) for PSX which collects all WXR / preflight items and provides this data to the pilot for preflight preparation in various print and non-print formats. Is there any need for something like that?
