PSX.NET Issues

Hey Mark,

after recent string of Windows 10 updates, I receive following error/message once I start the PSX.NET.

It works somehow, but I can not for example save new planes. Also, when I try to close it, it won't allow me to do that (same error...).

My Windows information: 10.0.15063 Build 15063

If you need anything else, I will try to obtain it for you.

Thanks!

I am running Version 1703 (build 15063.483), java RE Version 8 Update 141 (build 1.8.0_141-b15) and PSX Net 1.1.0 with PSX 10.1.7 and all is running OK on a single machine.

Hey Alex,

I am running Java 1.8.0_144-b01, PSX 10.1.7, PSX Net 1.1.0, Doors 1.2.0, Weather 1.0.0. Everything is on one machine as well.

I have recently updated Windows - it was mandatory and started to notice this issue. On the other hand, I have recently updated Java and before that PSX was not doing well when flying through bad weather. FPS dropped from 63 to low 20s. Recent update seemed to fix it.

So maybe each machine produces different results?  :o

More than likely, it also depends on your drivers for graphics and sound. I would make sure they are fully updated as well. I update my Nvidia driver as soon as I am notified and have not had any issues running PSX.Net or PSX.

(Very) wild guess: Decimal point vs decimal comma issue?
(On the theory that Win10 has perhaps kicked you back to Regional settings which Microsoft think are best for you, never mind your wishes. They always do that.)

Just saying...   ;)

Thanks for offered suggestions. I am still encountering the issues.

Alex,

thanks for the tip. I will check if my drivers are up-to-date, but usually I tend to update drivers when I am prompted. For the graphics I am certain, but I have to double check for the sound card.

Martin,

I checked my regional settings and it states that I am in the U.S. (which I have predefined since my initial install of Windows 10). Should I change it to the U.K.?  ???

You could try moving all the setting XML files to another folder (for backup) and running PSX.NET (at which point it'll regenerate them all).

Hello Mark,

wow...it seems that trick fixed it. Something got corrupt on my computer? Nonetheless, thanks a million! :)

US and UK both use decimal point by default, so that shouldn't be an issue.
(In any case, at least in earlier Windowses you can set various things, such as decimal separator, currency, etc., to different formats individually anyway, i.e. without having to change the whole locale.)

I had just been wondering about your place being Slovakia (even though I do not know which decimal separator is in use there); hence the (wrong) guess.  :D

Hello Martin,

comma ( , ) is used as decimal separator here (as well as in the Czech Republic and I presume much of the Central Europe).

But I prefer decimal point ( . ).

Sorry for delayed answer!

Before you unzip the zip file, go to the file properties and press 'Unblock'.

Many thanks Mark! Just the trick!

The external sim configurator wont save the aircraft config name.
Then P3D wont load - I get "error accessing settings file.  There is an error n XML document (1,4)"
