I do agree there must be more at play here.  We did test it several times as we too didn't believe it.

There must be more to it.

Well, I just had a little revelation while flying a go-around on PSX - moving the gear lever to OFF as part of the after-take-off checks disarms the autobrakes now on PSX - and that definitely shouldn't happen.
I have to admit it is beginning to look as though we saw a mirage in the BA sim..very strange..

Just tried it in BA sim 3. Able to arm autobrake with Gear Lever Up. Sorry about our previous assertions. I've no idea what happened there...
