Thanks!

What exactly are you doing to "start/run the sim"? Are you referring to page 11 in the Aerowinx manual?

Since you posted your question in this thread: Did you update your DVD version 10.0.0 with the files mentioned above? *

Edit: * This thread here is now split from that other thread.

Roboman1

I wasnt sure to start a new thread or not and this seemed most appropriate. I tried to update as per the instructions but I have no idea if it worked since the program hangs at 31%.
i followed the instructions to start. Placed the program on the desktop, opened the aerowinx folder and double clicked Aerowinxstart.jar - that gave me a message that said Java Runtime environment is required. Clicking the more info tab takes me to Apple.com

I updated Java and tried again and recieved the same message. If I right click the file and select run with - jar launcher app I get the same message. If I do that again on the aerowinx.jar file it loads to 31% and gives me the USB message.

I am assuming it is a problem with as I have it installed.

Hardy Heinlin

So you are using the plain 10.0.0 version from the DVD and not the update this forum thread is about.

If you see the Aerowinx splash screen and the 31% indication, you see a running Java application, hence Java is installed and PSX is running as well. It's just missing some start parameters; they are missing when the user starts with Aerowinx.jar instead of AerowinxStart.jar.

Be sure that you click on AerowinxStart.jar and not on Aerowinx.jar. If you think you did, please double-check if you really did.

Roboman1

I have done both numerous times. I only get the 31% screen when I right click on aerowinxjar and use jar launcher. I do not get anything other that the java message when I use any other file via double click or right click

Hardy Heinlin

Aerowinx.jar and AerowinxStart.jar are both Java applications. I don't understand why you're getting a Java message with AerowinxStart.jar, but none with Aerowinx.jar. It makes no sense, I've never heard of such a problem.

AerowinxStart.jar is just a small program that starts Aerowinx.jar with special program parameters; these parameters are required to assign the USB and sound interfaces, and to reserve some RAM memory.

Can you provide some screenshots of the files you click on?

Roboman1

Ok thanks for your help. I am about to go to work I will post here as soon as possible.

Roboman1

I am not sure if these screen shots are visible if not please give me instructions on how to attach them in which format.

So this is the Aerowinx folder on the desktop. Downloaded from CD and installed on Desktop.

Having double clicked on the Aerowinx folder in the desktop. Reveals the folders of the program.

Having double clicked - as instructed on Aerowinxstart.jar. This brings up this window - if you click on more info in the pop up it simply redirects to apple.com

Having double clicked on aerowinx.jar...

Java is up to date as far as I can tell. I have deleted and reloaded but perhaps I must use your links to update? If so which ones exactly. Further I have no USB devices connected and I am on a Mac

Here you can post pictures: http://aerowinx.com/board/index.php?topic=1744.0

So if you are on a Mac, let's test this:

Open the Terminal application. To find this application you may use Spotlight: Press CMD + Spacebar and enter the word Terminal in Spotlight's search field. Press Enter.

In the Terminal command line, enter these lines; press ENTER after each line (you can copy and paste them into Terminal):

cd desktop
cd aerowinx
java -Xmx500m -Djava.library.path=Interfaces -jar Aerowinx.jar

Aerowinx.jar should now load. Does it?

This is just a test. The last line is the command that is normally executed by clicking on AerowinxStart.jar; it does just that.

P.S.:

If the above "cd" commands don't work ("cd" means "change directory") you need to go back to the root directory and then from there to the desktop etc. To do this, enter these lines (cd space period period):

cd ..
cd ..
cd ..
cd ..
cd ..

Repeat this "cd .." until it doesn't go further back. Then:

cd users
cd roboman (or whatever your user name is)
cd desktop
cd aerowinx
java -Xmx500m -Djava.library.path=Interfaces -jar Aerowinx.jar

Still no joy, I am afraid.
No different results from trying to start from the folder.

For whatever reason I cannot upload the screenshots to that site.

Can you give me step by step instructions on the required updates? I will uninstall and then reload and update and try again.
Thank you.

To install PSX 10.1.0a:

Download the new Interfaces folder and the new sound package from this page
http://aerowinx.com/board/index.php?topic=2841.0
and follow the installation instructions on that page. It's a simple "download and copy" procedure.

Then download the new Aerowinx.jar from the 10.1.0a page: http://aerowinx.com/board/index.php?topic=3858.0
Copy the downloaded Aerowinx.jar to your Aerowinx folder (overwrite the old Aerowinx.jar).

Then click on AerowinxStart.jar

OK none of this is working for me - I still cannot get past the 31% screen.

I deleted, reloaded updated as instructed still no joy.
I went back to terminal and got a window instructing me to install a Java Developers Kit. Did that - no change.
Went back to Terminal repeated all as instructed and got this message....

Rob,

Try something else (very simple):
Download CMC-PSX and unzip it (it is an old version not compatible with the current version of PSX but for the purpose of the test it does not important).

Run CMC-PSX.jar
Did it start (if Yes you have Java. If No, it is not PSX problem at the moment)?
If it started, check the "Connect to PSX server" checkbox. Do you get something like the picture below (after few seconds, ignore the version differences in the title and maybe other error messages)?

Cheers,

Unfortunately, I can't see any screen in your forum post. Why can't you upload your screenshot as described here http://aerowinx.com/board/index.php?topic=1744.0 -- ?

The error message "Exception in thread ..." etc. looks like you're still running the old PSX version 10.0.0 with the new Interfaces folder. The new Interfaces are only compatible with PSX version 10.0.4 or higher. Did you download the Aerownx.jar version 10.1.0a and are you sure you're running that version?

I can tell you that your Java and your PSX is running because this error message is generated by Java and PSX.

This error occurs when the wrong Interfaces are used or not used at all (e.g. by not using AerowinxStart.jar).

Can you please confirm that you used this command ...

java -Xmx500m -Djava.library.path=Interfaces -jar Aerowinx.jar

... in your Terminal?

Is the sound system in your Mac OK?

Roboman1

I have tried many times now to upload the screenshot at the website provided with no joy. I am by no means a coding or programming guru but I cannot get the pictures to load.

I have tried many many times to do as you instructed in terminal - I copied and pasted the commands and I wrote them out all to no avail.

I have downloaded the updates as instructed. When I have 10.1.0a in my downloads I have dragged that to the aerowinx folder but I cannot tell if it has overwritten Aerowinxjar nor can I tell which version is running since I cannot get it to run.
The sound in my Mac is fine.

Hardy Heinlin

Your Interfaces folder has the wrong name; it reads "Interfaces-3". Your Mac probably renamed it while you were trying to overwrite it with the downloaded Interfaces folder.

You need to rename it to Interfaces

And the AerowinxU1.upd file also has the wrong name.
The correct file name is AerowinxU1.upd -- not AerowinxU1-2.upd

Roboman1

Renamed Interfaces.
Double Clicked AerowinxStart.jar

renamed updated file AerowinxU1.upd
same result...
