wow!!! Jack impressive what you have done thus far is amazing given the time frame of eight months you are way further down the road than I it has taken me years lol . I would suggest purchasing the Throttle unit from the aircraft you will be pleasantly surprised at how quickly the interfacing will proceed ... a few pots a dc motor and a micro switch your done .. try to get them to leave the flaps resolver in place and the park brake rod since you have the control uprights I am thinking you will have some level of flooring with a space in between if this being the case there is a thing at STA 300 that the throttle plugs connect too try to get that puppy,as well I don't know what it is called and the air conditioning connectors..  again very well done considering time and budget ..Bernard

...

Hello Bernard.
To purchase a real throttle unit is my following plan, cuz i think not thing is better then touching a real deal...
I am not going to upgrade my own throttle anymore till I have a real one. But if any friend need me to build one, I may try to make it...
What is more, may I ask that who or what company I can ask for a real throttle or any other real stuff from a retired 744? (Not too much expencive and in budget is the most important) I still dont know how to buy some real stuff, since I can't find any 744 retired stuff on angelfire.com
Beside the way to buy, I need to figerout how to ship it to China and the importing custom problem.
Wish to hear your purchase experience.
Thank you.

QuoteI really proud of the Landing gear, and especially the LCD display frame, which I think is the most replica in the world.

Hi, Jack
I really like the way you improvised with the landing gear lever spring :D The geometry may need a little adjustment though. The pivot point is closer to the front of the panel, so the angle range is greater.

Hi Hans,

We didn't have much luck with a stepper motor AT motor, we found we needed a lot more torque. We settled with a DC motor, attached to the same ...

.....

The universal joint isn't ideal as it doesn't present a constant torque but the floor was in the way.

Hi Mark,

did you get my PM?

Cheers

Having a real TQ I am in the same boat re motorizing the A/T.

@ Mark: Could you elaborate a bit on the required torque rating of a retrofit DC Motor?

That mount you did in 3D is superb - darn good job!
I have also started to use a 3D software to 3D-print most fixtures for my Hall Effect sensors... but - compared to yours - mine are rather dull in color. I absolutely must change that   ;)

the phigets DC motor is plenty, strong enough that's the easy bit  oh well you see when you get here  8)

Hi Bernard!

well, there are about 20 different Phidgets Motors, with or without gearbox etc. It's hard to judge simply by the numbers, how much RPM, gearbox Y/N etc. may be the best.

What kind of experience / recommendation is out there for a most realistic Setup?

Thanks in advance and cheers
Hans

Mr Hans.. Charles is coming to TX this month camera and tape in hand ..I hope he remembers a bubble protractor ... he will be taking measurements etc c so at same he can get pics and part numbers etc of my set up here whicjh is all real and share all the details ..thats,was part of the deal ..lol so if he gets it wrong you can all blame him lol  so hang on for a little bit 😆

B747-400

Hi,

yeah I know, Charles told me. It sounds like a good deal.
And if anything goes wrong: Charles can pay his penalty to me in Swiss Chocolate  ;)

Cheers

Hey, hope you find some answers on my other thread. Thanks for noticing the colour! 3D printing everything in vibrant purple (technically dark violet) is actually my signature move, I'm quite well known for it.
I'm intrigued about what you're using the hall effort sensors for... perhaps its time to start a 3D printing thread...

Excellent, Mark!

Thanks a lot! I will read the thread very carefully!

Hey Folks

Yes, can't wait to meet Bernard in TX next Thuesday  :) !

@ Bernard: Uiii, I knew that I am going to forget a few things  ::) ... a bubble protractor... have you got a Home Depot or some such outfit near by... looks like I need to go buy a few things perhaps ....  ;)

@ Mark: I don't use potentiometers but hall effect sensors. For those not familiar with these devices: They run on 5VDC and give an output of between 0.2 to 4.8 VDC depending on lever angle (they are available for 60, 90, 180 and 360 deg.). They can be connexted to the interface (using SimStack here) just the same as 'regular' potentiometers. The main advantages are good linearity, no jitter and 100mio. plus movements without any problems. And they are sealed, so not prone for dust-induced problems.. and so on... imho they are no more expensive than a potentiometer with similar properties - if not cheaper at that....
So, I am using these hall effect sensors in every place where there would be a potentiometer. These HES's can be of the rotary or lineary type btw..

Thanks for your info re. your A/T motor!

@ Hans: You are cruel!!!  :D

Looks like a lot of nice work, Jack! Is there a large community of sim enthusiasts there? How did you get interested in the hobby?

Hi Jack,

I did an update to PSXInterfaceIT for Chris Kilroy recently(ish) to try and resolve a few issues he had so some of these will probably be fixed already.

Although I wrote PSXInterfaceIT so I could use it on my Sim I only use outputs on the MIP panel buttons so dont see the overhead issues so its great you have reported this so we can get it fixed.

I have V1.42 almost ready for release, i just need to tidy up some things we put in yesterday to make the maintenance panel switches work.

Nice simulator by the way, amazing quality work.

Bare with me.

Cheers
Gary

Hello Gary.
Thanks for your great work to write the InterfaceIT. May I ask if you already finish the V1.4? If so, may I have the update? If not, I can help to try and make some report for it. Thanks. Looking forward for your reply.
Best regards.
Jack

Hello Gary. May I ask if the 1.42 version of InterfaceIT already finished?  In the web you sent me, there is only V0.43.
For more, may I ask is FDS board possible to interface the encoders and digit displays in such as Radio Panel or TCAS Panel.
I found that many great cockpit projects like yours is posible to adjust the Korry light with Pots. Also connect the backlit with PSX. Which board do you guys use? I know FDS is not possible.
Thanks.
Regards
Jack
