Gentlemen, and to Hardy...

I just need some opiniions..

At the moment, doing some research to get ready for Hardy's new baby...

http://www.logitech.com/en-au/gaming/joysticks/devices/5855

Will the above-link to the job for the new PS X, or any of you guys have a better recommendaton? If so, please do share with us with some links, where I and some other fellas who are in the same situation, may take a look?

You may also notice that on the top right corner, it state just under AUS$600

Thanks guys...

OK....I am ok, if you are ok...!!

Hi OKD,

For PSX I would rather chose a yoke instead of a joystick.
But I have no better recommendation (yet), it's still a while till PSX will roll out...

I agree. Would PSX support force feedback anyway?

Jeroen

Yeah..thanks Holger...just that I had a "Rocket Fire Brand" fltstick, but was having trouble in collaborating with PS 1.3. So all my flights were on AP mode even down to landing, except take-off(s) where I managed to use the keyboard quite successfully.

I am quite determined to get this right on this time round, especially after seeing Hardy's release of some scenaries!!

As mentioned before, just doing some research, and getting some website links "bookmarked" for the time being...

What other brand would you gentlemen have in mind?

Sorry, I can't comment on this at this time, except that the current Alpha supports USB buttons, hats, axes and sliders on Mac and Windows, but force feedback features are not implemented.

Cheers,

Hardy...

Force feedback WILL NOT be implement, or NOT YET implemented at this stage..?

Is it time consuming if implementing this feature?

As far as I know, the real 744 has hydraulic counterforce on the yoke which resists you moving the pitch axis when at high airspeeds, and the same at the rudder pedals. Not at the bank axis. These resistive forces can reach up to 30kg and aren't in any way reproducible on a force feedback stick. These devices are made mostly to transfer "texture" to the operator, bumps and vibrations. The stick shaker probably would be a good thing to have on the stick. Although in real life, the noise this thing makes is at least as panic-inducing as the vibration!

Actually, the 747 rudder has "Rudder Ratio". The pilot still feels the same force on the pedals, but the rudder deflection limits are variable, depending on airspeed.

Similarly, the aileron effect is reduced by locking the outboard ailerons at higher speeds/flaps up.

Thanks guys....very informative...

but do update us if / when you come across some flt yoke / stick, which you think is good for Hardy's new baby (PS X)?

Just want to bookmarked all the recommendations for the time being....

Yoke would be preferable for a Boeing aircraft, and for ours- 4 narrower throttles. The Logitech product line isn't really targeted at transport aircraft, although some might find a stick controller suitable for the Airbus.
The force feedback write-up by Jeroen is right on- generally not for aircraft with a hydraulic flight control system, unless it can simulate stick force per G /  V. I believe this is also true about the B744 roll channel unless the system simulates aileron deflection angle force change per V(IAS).
CH Products is regarded as the flagship of yokes and other controls. I use the latest Saitek line which is similar to CH's top product.
