HI all,

Just donwloaded the visual psx, but the simconnect file is missing (visual psx is up to date) .   how can i solve this?

cagarini

Run the simconnect installers in your main FSX folder, don't recall under wich sub-folder.

But there should be a simconnect installer in the VisualPSX package ?

I'm downloading the package and will search for it... I'm sure it was there the last time I installed it with FSX:SE.

Follow up:
=======

And indeed the simconnect installer comes with the latest VisualPSX distribution. When you unpack the ZIP you get 6 folders. It's in "Utilities", called SimConnect.msi

cagarini

It's not meant to be copied - execute it to install simconnect ...

floris,

you should really read the manual - it explains very well how to install, but I'll try to give some help, although I no loger use FSX or VisualPSX...

0) From the "Utilities" folder, run SimConnect.msi;

1) Edit the file SimConnect.xml in "Common files" and set the proper IP address - 127.0.0.1 if you run FSX in the same PC as PSX and VisualPSX. Then, copy this edited SimConnect.xml file and drop it in the FSX AppData folder of your operating system, somethink like:

C:\Users\<the user name>\ AppData\Roaming\ followed by Microsoft\FSX or Microsoft\FSX-SE

Also edite the file "SimConnect.cfg"  under "CommonFiles" and set the IP to ( again 127.0.0.1 if running everything on the same PC... )

2) In the folder named "Version 6 for FSX, FSX-SE and P3Dv1" you should find a ".dll" file and 3 executables. Creat a folder for VisualPSX ( I called mine "VisualPSX" in order not to be obvious it was meant for VisualPSX... ) and drop all those files inside of it. This is from where you will run VisualPSX... Can make a shortcut to it...

3) This next operation only needs to be executed once, or everytime you install new scenery in FSX:
Run, from the folder created in step 2) the command "RunwaysPsx.exe". It'll create a database of the runway data in FSX to be used by VisualPSX to sync with PSX. Leave the created ".vpx" data in that folder...

Now you're ready to go...

From the manual by Garry:

Run FSX and select a standard 747 aircraft.
2 Run PSX and open the Preferences\Basics tab. The following assumes you are using only one
instance of PSX.
3 Click the radio button "Start with main server on".
4 Tick the check box "Start with boost server on".
5 Select a main network port (10747 or 10748).
6 Select the highest frame rate limit (72) – you can also try slower ones later.
7 Save these preferences.
Start

no hardy got no message from my av software so it does not block it.

florismulock

i allowed the program to make changes in fsx aswell.

if it is not too much trouble i would really appreciate hardy if you could help me out with the program crossloop (you can connect to my pc so that you hae acces to my pc).
but understand if you have not time for it.  then ijust have to give up! such a shame!!  is there really nothing else i can do?

Hardy Heinlin

I'm sorry, I'm not an add-on expert. I don't even have Windows, just a Mac.

florismulock

ok but how can i solve this now. or should just uninstall psx and the addons and then reinstall it.  in the hope it works then??

can anyone confirm that visual psx works?  anyone else using it?

how is xview is that a better program?

Hardy Heinlin

I recommend a bit of patience :-) Not everyone can answer within a few minutes :-)

Yes, VisualPSX works. At least 700 users are using it.

Whether XView is better or not -- is a matter of taste. Before you buy X-Plane, I think you should give VisualPSX a chance. Do you have P3D?
