I remember we once were working on an adapted SquawkBox for Orbiter. It worked in about a day and then the problems with VATSIM started  :-)  Eventually we had to include an altitude limit of 100,000 ft above which the thing would switch off. Well, that wasn't so illogical after all  :-)

The development stopped when Columbia blew up.

Orbiter is indeed great, and I had fun with it before I switched away from Windows. I wish the creator would make a Mac version.
