The online presence increases every year. By now we have a live feed from ACARS to Twitter. To avoid abuse you can't chat with crew via Twitter-over-ACARS but there is a guarded channel that allows crews (and the planes themselves, OOOI) to dump status messages on @Worldflight.

There are now two blogs that sort of cover the Coventry base: mine (above) and Malcolm's at http://www.ukworldflight2010crew.blogspot.com/ . There are good reasons for having two. In order to save everybody the hassle of having to follow both, I've made a simple merger of the two that will show on the 747 Simulator web site http://747simulator.co.uk/ soon.

Of course, on the 747 Forum nobody knows Malcolm, so it speaks for it self that donations should flow via my counter  :mrgreen:

Radio Aloha was a great help getting into Honolulu. 40 minutes ahead of schedule, both 744s are now blistering in the sunshine. The new crews, refreshed after a week in paradise, are ready to pick up their paperwork.

It's a good thing that the internal Worldflight forums are closed to the public, as the third day of Worldflight always brings the inevitable tiredness and associated "interesting events" in terms of operational excellence.

La Paz is a killer if you are with so many aircraft.

The usual suspects will read comments here, but two other places are relevant:

1. The "open" UK Worldflight blog at http://www.ukworldflight2010crew.blogspot.com/ which has a comment feature (click on "0 comments" below each posting).

2. The open Worldflight general forum at http://www.worldflight.com.au/wfforum.php

You can also tweet to the #worldflight hash tag which some people follow.

ACARS messages to BAW744, also good. Direct messages via ATC (SquawkBox) not, as we cannot reply to them without leaving the pilot's seats and looking for a keyboard somewhere in the main equipment centre.

Yes, no doubt, queueing on the taxiway was challenging for the teams as well. I also watched the Simfest UK Webcam during taxi and departure in La Paz.
Delayes can be quite comfortable with a glass of red wine in a comfortable chair at home :D

You all should have heard the scared screams followed by relaxed laughter :twisted: when the Simfest crew, while holding short of the runway, watched the departing Qantas 744. Must have been quite challenging.

Still I remember very well the very long takeoff runs at La Paz El Alto airport when I visited Bolivia in 1994  :shock:

That's because the main gears drag 80 ft behind you and 30 ft lower.

They do sell approach lights on eBay, I just checked.

Kastrup - Zurich as part of the SIMFEST 2010 Team was fun...a triple TCAS RA (2 above & one below - how do you get out of that?) then dizzy flying round in circles we fould ourselves #8 on a downwind leg for RWY14 being chased by several 744s...well done to the Worldflight ATC guys & Florian for sorting it all out!
