Hi Garry,
would you please tell me what the abbreviations  SCCM  FC REPORT and CC REPORT are in your fine add on?

When flying with BACARS, Hoppies web site  records me as ANZBBBB.

I am having difficulty seeing the full manual in DOCX format and hope you could repeat it in say PDF.

Thank you in anticipation

Derek

Gary Oliver

Derek,

Unfortunately I am absolutely rubbish at writing or maintaining documentation... sorry.

I will try and dig out what I have written and convert to PDF for you soon.

In the meantime...

SCCM - 5 Letter Code for Senior Cabin Crew Member (eg. ADAMD)
FC REPORT - Flight Crew Report Time in UTC Time (e.g. 1600)
CC REPORT - Cabin Crew Report Time in UTC Time (e.g. 1630)

Cheers
Gary

Thank you GARY

Now can you tell me about Hoppies ACARS

Thanx
Derek

Jeroen Hoppenbrouwers

Ah it's you  :-)

Please don't report every minute -- it sort of fills up the queue with messages. In the real world, ACARS repeating position reports are rarely done closer than 5 minutes apart.

http://www.hoppie.nl/acars/system/log.html

I do not know why your system seems to add "BBBB" to the "From" field. My ACARS doesn't for sure.

Hoppie

J D ADAM

Hoppie,   Seems I was sending position reports automatically, certainly I was not doing it manually.  Tell me how to  turn it off

Thanx

Derek

Gary Oliver

Hi Derek,

The BBB is probably because you havn't put a flight number in the FLT INIT page of the ACARS system.

Hoppie,

Sorry I forgot the interval got set to 1min for some testing and ended up in the release build of BACARS.

https://www.dropbox.com/s/8dpq7xqca3rbyky/PSXBACARS%20%282%29.zip?dl=0

Now provides a new EXE which only sends a report every 5 minutes if you want to try this out Derek.

Thank you Gary,
If you mean the flight init page, do you mean PSX ACARS or BACARS?
If you mean BACARS then does not appear to be a field for this.
I am pleased it wasn't me who was stuffing up Hoppies ACARS with my reports!

Gary,

Re the new exe file:  I tried it but it fails to execute.  Noticed that my currently working (says v2.1.7) file is named PSX.Bacars.UI.exe while the new one is PSX.Bacars.exe.  do I need a new version?  Thought I was up to date - the config file has kg/lb and autopdc, autoOcenanic options which work fine.  But wanted to make sure on long flights I wasn't sending Jeroen's site too many reports.

Torrence

Re: FLT INIT pages in BACARS - elapsed time giving neg values.
I've been using these pages more on flts I'm intending to complete gate to shutdown in one session, just to get a feel for the electronic paperwork involved.  I've noticed on some flights that start before and end after 0000Z that the time math gets mixed up, resulting in negative flight and block times (e.g. -22.3 etc).  Probably just a small glitch in the code, but it seems to be consistent.

Torrence,

Ahh well spotted... Also I must have been having a mad 5 minutes as the file i uploaded was from a really old source code repository.

I will try and fix the time and get a new version with 5 minute reports out in the next week or so.

Hi Gary   Would you please tell me where to input my flight number so that it does not record ANZBBBB on Hoppies ACARS.

Thank you
Derek

Gary Oliver

BACARS > FLT INIT  Then a 4 digit number on the top left line select.

torrence

Derek
There might be some slight confusion because after you select BACARS from the Menu on the center CDU, the page you get is labeled ACARS MENU and that is where the FLT INIT is.  It is in BACARS alright but now emulating the ACARS, BA version. Sim virtual reality sometimes has my head spinning.

Hi Gary

Sorry  but BACARS is not accepting in initialisation, a flight number in the top left field,or am I doing something stupid!!!

Cheers
Derek
I see
(BLANK)                (BLANK)

DEP                       (BLANK)

DES                       CREW DETAILS

FOB                       (BLANK)

ETE                        INIT DATA REQ

Pressing INIT DATA REQ          results in NO DATA AVAIL

Hope this makes sense!

J D ADAM

Hi Gary

Seems I have it sorted by inputting as suggested.  I was confused that the input was not being recorded on the centre CDU

Thank you for your help

Derek

Hi Gary,

I uninstalled BACARS and reinstalled it and everything is working as normal.

Thank you for your patience.

Now all i have to sort out is having TOPCAT producing full results  i.e.(takeoff performance) to MCDU, but in six different messages (headings) but only printing TAKEOFF PERFORMANCE heading but no results!

Oh well it keeps my mind active although it no doubt screws up yours!

Good Evening Gary,

Seems I was premature with my last reply.

Yes, FLIGHT INIT is working and instead of blank at LSK 1L I have  NZ[][][][].

However the latest EXE file you sent will not load.

Your thoughts on my previous question re printouts from TOPCAT would be appreciated.

Cheers
and Thanx

Hi Derek

The BACARS interface needs some trial and error probing and a ... er ... manual at some point (but Gary's busy  :)).  One point is that BACARS contrary to generic ACARS (PSX) doesn't populate these fields automatically from you FMS entries.  I don't know which is 'most realistic' but I think BACARS was designed to emulate the BA specific interface to first order for Britjet and Co.  So in this case just enter your flt number on the CDU keypad and put it in LSK 1L.  And continue.  This module doesn't take data from the the previously entered flight information generally - it's a separate system for BA company use ( I think).

Yes -the exe file wasn't right - see Gary's post.   He's working on it.

Hi Gary

I wonder if you had a chance to review your latest BACARS program which would no load?

Thank you in anticipation and regards
