Just because I stumbled upon this. Some very modern very small computers such as the Acer Veriton series come not with a modern operating system (even if it were a Linux variant) but with FreeDOS. Apparently this is needed to both prove to customers that the machine works and save on shelf price.

This may be another way of running PS1.3 (without network!).

The cheap machines themselves probably also support larger operating systems, in some cases  this may be interesting as well.

Thanks for the tip.

Any idea how to enter a Unix path at a DOS prompt?

I can run the Java application of FreeDOS on the Mac, but don't know how to tell that DOS machine the Mac path to PS1.

Edit: OK, found. It can be set in the menu under DISKS ...

Edit 2: PS1 frame rate: 0.5 FPS :-)
