Hi all,

I've done an update of my homepage and the picture gallery so far, if you are interested in.

Finally my Flightdeck Solutions DSTD base construction is done. Over the holidays I will continue working on my setup.   :D

Next update approximately end of January!

Merry Christmas and a happy new Year to all of you!

Cheers

Thanks Hans I also really enjoyed looking through your project pictures this evening and how you're building something so brilliantly, my best wishes to you for the 2016 builds. I'll share with you that I am now, as a consequence, thinking about what I might build for 2016, it won't be a cockpit because I am not handy enough lol, but! your project catches my imagination for the new year already, something will come of it, and I will follow your progress )  Kabbers

Amazing, I'm sure you are very pleased with FDS. Did you order the monitors too? Where did you get your yokes from?

B747-400

Hello,

yes, FDS components are awesome. Good communication with Steve and Peter as well!  :D

I only purchased the lower EICAS TFT from FDS to fit perfectly in the CDU bay. All the other TFT displays are of my own (two 19" 16:9 and one 15" 4:3). For the clocks and RMIs, I will add two 7" TFT 16:9 displays I ordered in the meantime! More info on my HP in the upcoming January update!

Seats and columns were ordered from a company I do not want to recommend. Finally the parts arrived; the seats were more or less new. But it took me more than three month struggling with the seller to finally receive the parts!

Interesting to see how you made the pedestal and the MIP fit...  this was one of my first problems to tackle..

Thankfully Ralph came over and sat with a dremel for a few hours and did the job for me, impressive work!

We all are sitting in the same boat ...  ;)
A few minutes with a jigsaw ... must be a pain with a dremel  :o

He managed to cut enough away to just slide the real pedestal *inside* the FDS MIP... Very ingenious!

B747-400

Hmm, that sounds interesting: my TQ pedestal has about 0,5 inch more width than the fds CDU bay.
Best case I could slide the CDU bay into the pedestal ...

Hi Hans,

Site (as mentioned previously) GREAT and full of useful information !

I have a question:
Can you provide details about the TFT for the lower EICAS.
The problem is, as we know, that the with the height some smuggling.. can be done (if it is a rectangle) but the width between the CDU's is a problem.

So..., what size monitor do you have, is it square or is it a rectangle, what's the brand and/or type-number etc ?
Hope you can solve this problem, which many builders encounter (also the blue... builders).

Greetings,

Hessel

Hi Hessel,

thanks for you compliments  :D

The lower EICAS is a 12.1" LDC/VGA from FDS, including a mounting kit and the power supply. More technical specs and the pricing can be achieved from PCos, as I do not have a specific model name etc..

The overall size is 20,9 x 27,8 cm.

As you can see in the pictures below, the frame is visible some mm on the left site behind the MIP window frame. So either a black tape or some black color should cover this area.

When you slide in the LCD panel, it sticks out in the rear behind the MIP front panels. So the LCD for the upper EICAS should not be too large, because above the upper EICAS there are lot of switches. In other words: only narrow space for the LCD panels  :(

If you don't like this, you need to find a source for LCD panels which fits exactly, what could be a bit tricky, I guess.

Here my pictures:

Hope that helps!
