Question about ZFW

I am thinking to implement some new features into FiFLi and this is leading me to some  inquiry about ZFW (zero fuel weight) and how this info is obtained. I watched long ago video where Captain would receive a report (after boarding is complete) about his final ZFW and I think it was in some kind of form received from dispatcher center. Can somebody please explain (and correct me): who is reporting to the Captain final weights, when,  in what kind of form and how much are these changes usual ? 

In the case you agree with me that this feature would be interesting to add, FiFLi would randomly initiate some late ZFW changes - maybe you will unexpectedly board more few more passengers or cargo :-) and FiFLi will print report about this change in some kind of form. Then you would as Captain have some more calculations and decisions to do.

Any help on this subject is very appreciated :-)
