BA is 300+ packs off. Different airlines do it different ways, though.
The cabin is very slow to climb even with the packs off, so it isn't really an issue.
It saves messing about with isolation valves...
"Packs off" will generally increase TOPL by about 2 tonnes.


With regard to #4 AUX pump being switched ON.
You never pressurise a hydraulic system without ground clearance. ( because of gear doors, flaps, flight controls etc). There is quite enough pressure in the brake accumulator to maintain the park brake, and on most departures the aircraft is chocked anyway..
Leave it until the before start procedure...

It's hard to know where to draw the line on levels of safety., but as a former ground engineer, I would never blame the pilot for letting the plane roll away. Either the chocks should be in or the tug attached to the nose (engine running and driver in his seat). Engineers give the pilot the signal to release the brakes, except on freighters where the brakes aren't parked anyway (as it can interfere with the Weight & Balance System). As Britjet says, you can't just turn on pumps without getting clearance. Control surfaces will move.

However, I can't comply with all airlines SOP, so I leave PACKS and HYD DEM PUMP unchanged if you don't mind (anyway, you can add your own modifications according to your airline SOP directly from the docx file below...).

I checked my FCOM : Hyd demand pump 4 selector to OFF until before engines start.

Hey AA,

great contribution! Actually working through your SOP v3. The only thing that I am missing so far is page numbering ... Maybe you could be so kind and upload the PDF with page numbering that refers to the table of contents - that would be great!

Another suggestion would be to upload the "raw" file in a more common format; I'd appreciate an .odf file (Open document format). As far as I know MS Word can im- and export this file type, too. And users of OpenOffice / LibreOffice and so on would be able to better use the document (it can be imported in AbiWord and OO but has some formatting glitches).

This new version (1.5) complies now better with recent Boeing FCOM (however I simplified and reorganized some items to make it more convenient  :D).

The previous versions were on purpose a "mixture" of Boeing FCOM (old and new) and Official Aerowinx Manual (from DLH procedures I guess).
The mix was not a good idea : contrary to what I thought at first, the result was not very clear...  :(

I gave it a cleanup and tried to remove all confusing items.

I added all normal Boeing Check-lists : I suggest you to download Boeing Copilot files by Sylvain Coolsaet :

I kept Sarah BAW check-lists (because as Sylvain says : Boeing checklist are much more compact than the ones some airlines are using).

• The FSMC closes crossfeed valves 2 and 3 (before takeoff) only when the aircraft is on the ground and the flaps are at takeoff position (10 or 20) for 40 sec.
• You ignored the AUX tank.

You also may want to mention pilots may get >FUEL LOW CTR L/R or >FUEL LO STAB L/R during step climb (pitch >5°) and after leveling off the >FUEL OVD CTR L/R and >FUEL PMP STB L/R messages (to switch them back ON).

I ignored the AUX tank, but this is intentional :  I use CF6 engines, non ER aircraft, anti-ice with auto ... it would be too complicated to take into account every aircraft specific (KG/pounds   -   CF6/RB211/PW -  engine autostart : one main control or 4 individual controls, etc  ...)
