James,

Do you have a set of fonts in c:\\windows\\fonts called 'Segoe' ?

If not they may be missing, or corrupt.  There appears to be a few people having this issue on Windows 7

Update to them here: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2729094

Person missing fonts here.. http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-windows_update/windows-7-update-missing-segoe-ui-fonts/42506a5e-0d35-42e5-aa84-6131acd94c60?tab=question&status=AllReplies#tabs

an sfc /scannow may fix the problem apparently.

If you have no luck ill look at using an alternative font in the GUI.

Cheers
Gary

G'day,

Still not working I'm afraid, though I feel like we're getting closer to the problem.

I do have the Segoe fonts installed. Scannow didn't identify any faults. I tried re-installing the Segoe fonts, the Segoe update, .NET framework and BACARS. I also tried changing my system language from Australian English to US English because I saw this caused similar crashes online.

The crash error no longer appears, though BACARS still doesn't start and it still appears in Eventvwr with the same faults. The ACARS dispatcher still works though, is this based on the same font and software? I don't really understand why one would work and one wouldn't.

Would it be too much trouble to try the software with a different front?

James,

That is a damned good point actually!  I wonder why dispatcher works but BACARS doesn't.

I tried all combinations of regional settings yesterday and couldn't break it either.

I wonder if it is a windows 7 thing, will have a think.

Standby.

Cheers

Godatum,

I'll make sure it doesn't need Topcat in the next version.

Too busy to make any code changes at the moment, as having a small redesign of the sim room.

Gary-

As someone who flies PSX on a networked dual PC setup AND a rMBP + iPad I was wondering if there had been any more thought about compiling BACARS for the Mac?  If it is complex no worries, but if it is feasible- I'd be delighted.

Either way- thank-you- 'tis wonderful :)

Best- Carl

For those experiencing the weird crash on start up can you try updating your .NET frame work with this download?

http://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/download/details.aspx?id=40773

The program is compiled for .NET 4.5.1 but those crash reports above reference .NET 4.0.

I am struggling to reproduce the issue.

Hi Gary,

I've installed V1.95. It opened, and as far as I can tell works perfectly, though I'm still working my way through all the functions.

I don't know what you changed, but it definitely did the trick. Many thanks for all your support during the troubleshooting! You're a scholar and a gentleman :).

Best wishes,

James.

Hello Garry,

Thanks for this great add-on. Unfortunately I can only select BACARS from the 3rd (center) CDU. Is it intentional or did I miss something ?

Regards

Thanks for the quick answer. In the real aircraft you can select ACARS from any CDU you want via the MENU page. Maybe there is an exception for the BACARS on BA airplanes ?
