assign joybuttons

hello,

which is the 'best and easiest to handel tool' for assigning joystick buttons to psx for hardware running a homecockpit with pushbuttons and encoders. The pods I have already manged via the PSX list.

PS I am using Leo Bodnars BU0836 and BU0836X and tried already xpadder
(freeversion) but without success.
