VisualPSX and TrafficPSX Build 5498 released

Build 5498 improves the weather modelling from PSX to FSX. IMC landings are now scary!

I found a timing issue in disconnecting from FSX that may have caused intermittent problems for some users. Both apps have been repaired.

The proposed new feature to allow easy positioning at FSX departure gates will be much more complex than I thought so will have to wait until at least a month before I can investigate further.

Happy flying!

Hello Gary,

unfortunately I cannot get traffic to be injected in either way. VisualPSX and TrafficPSX are connected to PSX as clients, in my opinion everything is set up correctly, including PSX traffic set to "externally controlled" when it should receive traffic from FSX vis TrafficPSX. I tried different setups, still not working. I am sure there is an easy way to solve this - can you give me a hint? Btw, what I definitely do not get is status messages regarding traffic as seen here: http://www.lekseecon.nl/images/bugs/TRafficPSX.png - so, something must be wrong on my side...?

Garry Richards

Hi Dennis,

You need to have the option to send FSX traffic to PSX set in TrafficPSX and also have traffic being generated by FSX through the FSX display menu.

Cheers,
Garry

Hi Garry, all this is set up as you say.  PSX and FSX are set up and connected. I either generate traffic using the max settings in FSX, seeing lots of aircraft in FSX but not in PSX. Also tried to generate some traffic in PSX (traffic visible in PSX windshield and on the ND, TCAS advices audible, but nothing in FSX) - No traffic in none of the intended directions (PSX -> FSX -> PSX). Any idea what else could be wrong?

Garry Richards

Sorry Dennis, nothing else occurs to me. Perhaps others have encountered this situation and have found the solution.

Dennis,

Could it be that your TCAS is OFF.

You should *NOT* see the yellow word "TCAS OFF"  in your Navigation Display.

(Sorry if this is too basic, but it could be the cause).

Hi Garry,

Great job ! Thank you very much for these improvements.

I have an issue with either 5498 and older versions of Visual PSX. I have an add-on scenery for which visual PSX doesn't apply the good offset. When I land, the ILS is "shooting" very far from the runway. The Visual PSX offset window shows the good RWY in green. I did the Runway PSX build procedure well, including add-on airports. Is there a way to correct the offset manualy ?

For information, the scenery is Onet Valley VDPP airport. Offset is wrong on RWY 23. Didn't test RWY 05.

Best regards,

Garry Richards

Hi J-P,

There is no manual correction. There is probably a bug in RunwaysPSX or in the addon airport file. I will investigate when I return home.

Cheers,
Garry

Hi Garry,

thx for the update!

Unfortunately for me PSX isn't updating FSX-SE weather :-(

Garry Richards

Hi José,

I don't know why this should be. Is anyone else using FSX-SE? If so, is weather working in build 5498?

Cheers,
Garry

Well :-(

still not working.

I decided to "install" all of the simconnect MSIs in the Steam FSX SE folder, just in case, followed by the simconnect msi that comes with VisualPSX's package, but still no go ...

When FSX-SE first starts, with the scenery still loading, I happen to see an hint of how it should look like given the weather in PSX, but then, when the load is complete, there are no clouds and / or precipitation - weird ?

Temperature appears to be working, and I believe pressure too, though.

I'll get a log and post it here Garry.

Hello gentlemen,

still having trouble, can't see any traffic in FSX generated by PSX (or vice versa). My setup is correct, VisualPSX and TrafficPSX are connected as clients to PSX and so on. Still, ANY traffic that is visible in PSX is NOT visible in FSX.

Is there a way to find out if PSX is sending out traffic information at all to the addon(s)?

Cheers
Dennis

Hello,

for network debugging you could try Hoppie's Router and apply a filter to the monitor for the Qs TfcVel and TfcPos.

...or use the DFDR and open the data file with a text editor and search for Qs450=, that is the PSX traffic being transmitted.

Thanks Hardy and Balt, I will try as soon as I find an opportunity next week.

Hello gents,

I could use DFDR to record a quick and dirty traffic situation (intruder on crossing descent).

The Qs450 variables recorded look like this:
Qs450=0.23389104464233;-1.180161242430648;290011;30022;0.2363991827685387;-1.1773241203547915;300844;24326;0.241323510646359;-1.1881693985860124;308928;14946;0.24130045144423393;-1.1881797361401043;289525;14933;0.239287442068661;-1.184670916814202;330362;16787;0.24233376289350594;-1.1908709854988873;315136;14074;0.23323170900353027;-1.1717733749338342;314206;27097;
Traffic was indicated by TCAS and on ND, navigation and strobe lights visual in PSX.

Nothing to be seen in Microsoft Flight Simulator, unluckily.

VisualPSX is up, running and all status lights are green. TrafficPSX is set up to inject PSX traffic into FSX. All other VisualPSX features like controlling the FSX aircraft, control surface and undercarriage movement, weather injection etc are working fine.

EDIT: Recently, TrafficPSX keeps crashing after a few minutes. These are the dump files:

After buying a new SSD, I decided to upgrade P3d to the latest version, 2.5. Having finished the upgrade, I ran RunwaysPSX, directed it to the P3d folder but it does not find any airport data within P3d. Anyone have any ideas.

This is actually a repost from another thread!
