Hi,

Before anyone buys this stick to run PSX make sure that the included Atom runs at 2.5 GHz or higher, as recommended by Hardy.
Intel offers quad-core Atoms at various speeds (some run at 1.33 GHz, see ark.intel.com for details).

Specs - a quad-core Bay Trail Atom Z3735F, Bluetooth 4.0, and 2.4GHz 802.11n Wi-Fi.

I think it should be fine.

nice i saw that at CES too. not sure how to do 2 monitors so might get the new Broadwell NUCs which can go up to i7, 16GB RAM, 2x displayports.

The performance of PSX on a Z3735F processor is not optimal

This is with network turned off and situation '01 Departure 002 - Tel Aviv - Hong Kong.situ' loaded (the beginning of the CPU graph represents the moment I loaded the situation).

The frame rate is under-performing (it's set to 72) and the processor is turbo boosted on 1 core so if you run other stuff concurrently, using other cores, the processor will underclock all the cores. I've seen this happen and framerates went considerably lower.

The Intel Broadwell NUC powering a 5k display. I guess an i5 or i7.

The 5th gen NUC with the i5 or i7 is arguably not up to Hardy's spec (with a low nominal clock speed, turboboosting to higher clock speeds when needed) however they are considerably more capable processors than the Z3735F, so I'd say they could work very nicely.

According to here (http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/nuc/nuc-kit-nuc5i5myhe-board-nuc5i5mybe.html), the most powerful NUC to be relased soon has a i5 5300U @ 2.3 Ghz turbo to 2.9 Ghz , dual core.

Frankly, I guess it all depends about your expectations...
Spending a lot of time in hotel rooms far away from my powerful desktop computer I dreamed for years to be able to run a flight simulator with good system depth on a small laptop or tablet.

I even tried to run PS1 on an iPad using a DOS emulator. Needless to say that attempt wasn't too succesful

I'm now carrying a relatively cheap Acer switch 10 Windows 8.1 tablet/laptop crossover with a Z3735 processor with me when I'm abroad.
Using a HDMI cable it allows me to run PSX on a big screen almost everywhere in the world.
A Logitech F310 gamepad replaces the yoke, dual throttle and rudder pedals I have at home.
Averaging 20fps the experience is not butter smooth but I'm more than happy with it  8)
I wouldn't build my home setup around those Intel computing stick but it will be hard to beat as a portable setup...

Cheers,
Sylvain

PSX works at full speed on a Microsoft Surface Pro. Look no further if ultimate mobility is what floats your boat...

That's good to know! Thanks Balt

Apparently a Z3735 can run Crysis
