TrafficPSX Debug 4 released, now Debug 5

Garry Richards

I have started a new thread so that any future debug versions and their notes can be placed at the top of the thread.

TrafficPSX version Debug 4

FSX traffic being sent to PSX:

. Improved tracking algorithm. PSX TCAS display should follow individual aircraft correctly.

. Improved selection of FSX traffic when there are more than 7 FSX aircraft in range.

PSX traffic being sent to FSX:

. Improved display of PSX targets in FSX.

.Turned PSX traffic off when TrafficPSX closes.

TrafficPSX version Debug 5

.Fixed bugs in tracking and selecting FSX aircraft for display in PSX ND.

Download TrafficPSX version Debug 5.

Thanks for testing and reporting!

Many thanks, Garry!    :D

As always, your work is much appreciated,

Hi Garry,

Tried your Debug 4 version but I'm geting a strange artifact.

While I'm at the ground at EHAM (-11 feet) I constantly get an unnamed airplane at a fixed angle and distance, -6 feet below me. (maybe a submarine? :) )

Here a screenshot.

Nico

Another thing that is different from Debug3:

Sometimes there are holes in the list

If it is at 3100 nm distance, it is actually in orbit if 6 ft below your level   :-D

Hi Nico,

do you see that very same aircraft as well in FSX?

(Note: you can see all AI - or, respectively, VATIM/IVAO - aircraft in FSX and you can change your view point to them by clicking the right mouse button. You'll see a list with view options and these include other aircraft. So, is there any aircraft in that list which fits to your description?)

Technical instinct: I bet that the +3100 nm distance is actually 3276.8 minus the actual distance, distorted by the negative altitude. That would give 177 miles or thereabouts. Still way beyond any reasonable display range though.

Garry Richards

Hi Kiek,

The submerged aircraft is due to a bug I thought I had fixed. I guess not.  :(

The holes in the list are by design. The list now represents PSX slots. When an aircraft is allocated to a slot it stays there until it is out of range. The slot then remains empty until another aicraft comes into range.

Garry

Hi Garry!

>  "...a bug I thought I had fixed..."

Commiserations, Garry. If it's any consolation at all, I do understand exactly how you feel.

In the early days of software development we used to have a saying: "There's always one more bug".     :?

Hi Garry
re Beta 4..
This is much improved now for me. Lots of proximate traffic. (MyTraffic 3D)
but...
On my setup the TCAS display of traffic keeps changing - the individual targets seem to be cycling in and out of visibility on a 5 or 10 second cycle, usually for their place to be taken up by another elsewhere.  It doesn't seem to tie up with any particular timebase, or label cycling on the sim itself,  but more an individual exclusion and the re-inclusion of traffic, as though they are being superceded by another.

Definitely a big improvement, though. Thanks!

Cheers,

Brit

Mole (real one, Talpa spec.) more likely, fitted with GPS.
Zoologists nowaydays routinely hang GPS necklaces on anything that moves.

Thanks Garry!

With this version I have now (for the first time*) all "slots" populated, and can indeed see the FSX planes on the PSX ND, too (when appropriate).

Great stuff!

Cheers,
Martin

[size=8]* Before, it was mostly nothing at all in the list, or at best initially one plane, in slot #1, but only for a short while, after which it disappeared without any new ones turning up.

It's actually an empty record being displayed. The "aircraft" has no call sign and is on the equator at the Prime meridian at sea level. All data values are zero. Being so far away PSX will ignore it.

Hi Garry,
my download archive contains still Debug4.
And this one has expired now.
Did I oversee something?

Regards
Gerd

Garry Richards

Hi Gerd,

The latest is Debug 5 although its version displays as Debug 4. It still has a bug that is fixed in the next release. I hope to have time to release it in the next day or two.

Cheers,
Garry
