Hi,

Does a single decent desktop have enough power to run FSX for visuals and PSX on multiple monitors?

FSX would be running on one display, with the plan to put PSX on at least two touch screen displays running off the same computer (one for main panel/general operation and the other displaying center aft console).

If there is enough processing power, what about 4 touch screens (main, center aft console, overhead, and forward center console with 2x FMC and lower EICAS)?

I have found a cheap supply of touchscreen monitors of decent size (20" each) which looking at actual cockpit dimensions, would result in nicely sized panels, and a usable yet compact set up.

Of course it depends on the PC, graphics cards etc - but no reason why it wouldn't.

I have done so on my rig with no problems - FS doesn't even seem to notice PSX is running and vice-versa.

FSX runs without complaints all  day long, with very good performance (40+ FPS under load). :)

OK - I guess the next thing is driving all these displays... my graphics card has 2x DVI and HDMI outputs. One HDMI is used for one monitor already... do you know if it is possible to use DVI and HDMI off a single card in a triple display set up?

The card is a 2 Gb AMD R9 260.

I'm thinking I might need to add another graphics card.

Monitor adapters that convert USB output to DVI or another video standard are available and much cheaper than "real" video cards. They perform surprisingly well for normal tasks but I don't think they are up to high-performance video display. Nonetheless, I'd recommend these for Instructor monitors and anything that does not need blazing frame rates, such as the complete overhead panel and most if not all of the pedestal.
