Hi GerD,

Is there anyway you could share your layout if any so we can use it ? Really impressive !

Thanks

cagarini

Yes Gerd, please share the layout,

and, BTW, you've just ruined my weekend plans :-(

I just installed GFWL, and am downloading FSX from my account and re-installing it :-)

I will also install Steve's DX10 Fixer, newer version available since a few weeks, and really helps smoothing the FPS in MSFS :-)

Thank you very much for sharing that amazing screens.

I agree: it also does a great job of eliminating worries about VAS exhaustion.     ;)

I reviewed it here, in case others are interested: http://www.mutleyshangar.com/reviews/bc/dx10/dx10.htm

It was good to see that Steve had put it back on the market again, after a short absence!    :D

Brian,

great review!

Thx for the link - I wasn't aware of it... Been away from Mutley's for such a long time :-/ - Have to get back there!

Realized it as well but don´t know why. They did not follow.
Perhaps Garry knows an answer. Maybe cause a PMDG model has
been used.

Have uploaded layout.

http://www.hoppie.nl/forum/var/GD_Custom.9pack

The screenshots are made with the first screen.
For the other ones I took mainly Will´s layout with
slight modifications.

Tools I used:
- Windows borderless gaming - to set FSX borderless
- "always-on-top" - to toggle between FSX on top half Screen and PSX full Screen.

FSX uses REX,UTX and FTX Global and is optimized with DX10-Fixer.

The rest is playing around a little bit as it always was with FSX.

Gerd,

the combination is PERFECT!

I have to investigate those two tools you mention - never heard of it: windows borderless gaming and always-on-top ?

I used to make use of another one to run any program as if it was in fullscreen, but I no longer recall it's name :-/

I noticed that, on my rig, it made QUITE A DIFFERENCE to set the AffinityMask values on FSX.cfg, and now I found out why I didn't like my first experiences with both fsx and p3d v1.4 - they were full of stutters, while now it runs smoothly! Noticed it when I looked at the temp of one of my Cores after playing PSX and FSX together...

I am also using "60/2" for the FPS in PSX.

GerdD

José,

below the links for those Tools:

Fully agree with you as far as the AffinityMask is concerned. I have mine
set the way that the first core is free for OS.

Gerd

Thx Gerd!

Will try it ASAP!

cagarini

Well, Gerd, they turned out to be two great apps! Thx!

As a matter of fact, while I can't make "alwayOnTop" work with my X-Plane10 window, "Windows borderless" was great to finally let me set the height of XP10 window properly !!!

Hi Gerd,
Forgive me for asking the probable obvious, but how do you get an FSX forward view without the cockpit?
I'm in the process of emulating your great work but am hung up on this.
Like you and many others I have more invested in FSX candy than I should have but have become totally hooked on PSX so this seems like a great solution if only I could get that last piece to drop in place.
It might even be worth getting another monitor and setting up the views per Brian' examples.
Many thanks,
Greetings from the mountains of Northern Thailand (VTCC),
Chris Stanley.

Hi Chris,

if I'm not wrong you can switch from "Virtual Cockpit mode" to the "2D Panel Cockpit mode" by pressing Shift-A.

Aircraft without a 2D-Panel will just show a full view, otherwise (if you have 2D panel in the acft) you need to press "W" a few times to get rid of the panel or the mini-instruments.

By the way, thanks for the sharing these nice screenshots, Gerd.

Many thanks for that Markus. I knew it had to be something simple. I'll give that a try.

It´s not without Cockpit. It´s the Virtual Cockpit zoomed in deeply.
On the very right part You can see the rest of the aircraft window.

Hi Gerd,
Silly me - I missed that. Makes sense and so simple.
Thanks again for the great images and the idea of what is possible.
Kindest,
